Below are all of KMJ, Derby's postings, with the most recent are at the bottom of the page.Dee: The engineer was correct when he said that Sutton Coldfield is currently the strongest Freeview signal, and after switchover is predicted to deliver all six muxes with good reception. However it will still be West Midlands local news. The Little Eaton relay which carries East Midlands news will transmit MuxBBCA from 17th August 2011 and Mux D3+4 from 31st August 2011. This is however a Freeview Lite transmitter and will only transmit the 3 PSB muxes. You can try tuning in on 17th August to see if the signal is strong enough to be received off the side of the Sutton Coldfield aerial, however if this does not work you will need an additional aerial pointing at the Little Eaton relay, connected to the same downlead via a diplexer to receive all available services and East Midlands news.

jim: C56, C58 and C60 are in use at Dover until June 2012, preventing their use at Sudbury until DSO at Dover.

Hidey Hi: Mux ArqA is transmitted on a higher frequency which can make it slightly harder to receive. Is your second aerial by any chance a group B, installed before Freeview started? Mux ArqA is the only mux outside group B at present, but in due course all 3 COM muxes will be on higher frequencies, a group E aerial (or wideband) being required for reception of all services from Sudbury. You should have about 106 channels, including radio stations but this can vary according to the content of the muxes being transmitted from a particular transmitter. In overlap areas the way your receiver deals with duplicates and variations can make quite a difference to the number of extra channels stored.

James Quinn: As jb38 says you might struggle to find a usable signal from any alternative transmitter. It is worth mentioning however that poor reception from Black Hill is predicted for a number of postcodes around Penicuik, if you are able to receive signals from B/H you should use a good quality group B receiving aerial set for horizontal polarisation.

Paul: It is very unlikely that the COM muxes will ever be added, the owners of the muxes were asked if they wished to extend the service to more sites but declined on the grounds that the cost of provision would more than double whilst adding only a small percentage of extra viewers. In many cases the missing channels can be received via satellite or cable, or by installing an aerial for reception from one of the main stations.

Les: Check that the problem Freeview box is not on the list of equipment that does not support the 8k mode. If it is, a replacement will be required, unfortunately.

Craig Gannon: The Digital UK postcode checker predicts the strongest signal at your location to be from Skipton Town at 127 degrees, aerial Group A , vertical polarisation. This is however a Freeview Lite transmitter and only carries the 3 PSB muxes. To receive all six muxes good reception is predicted from Emley Moor at 148 degrees, aerial group B and horizontal polarisation. Good reception is of course subject to there being no local obstructions (trees or tall buildings) blocking the signal path. Mux BBCA enters service on 7th September 2011. On 21st September 2011 Mux D3+4 and Mux HD begin from Skipton Town and all muxes will be at high power from Emley Moor.

Brian: You are missing MuxD. If you are receiving Freeview signals from Sutton Coldfield the Digital UK postcode checker predicts good reception on all muxes except MuxD on C55 which is shown as variable. This is possibly due to interference from one of the relay sites that also use this frequency. After switchover stage 2 at Sutton Coldfield on 21st September 2011 you are expected to have good reception on all muxes.

John Persijn: According to the Digital UK postcode checker you are predicted to have excellent reception from Malvern on Mux2 which carries C4 as well as ITV1 and C5. You are also shown as having good reception for these channels from Lark Stoke, but that is with the aerial pointing at Lark Stoke! Check that the channels you have stored are on the Malvern frequency, ie C39 or 618.0MHz. If you have stored Lark Stoke channels by mistake these will be received on C23. Otherwise make sure there is no nearby VCR or Sky box with the RF modulator set around C38 which could interfere with the Malvern signal. If you have trees in the signal path they can play havoc with reception on random frequencies. One last point, if you have any booster in use you could have too much signal, which gives similar results to having a weak signal or intermittent interference on affected frequencies.

Dave: C50 MuxD/MuxArqB changed to 64QAM and 8k mode and now carries Sky Sports.
