I think the battle already lost to keep the number of terrestrial channels already by the channels already lost to mobile phones and internet. The TV broadcasting space will reduce and Freeview will go over time. (Sorry your FM too now that cars have DAB).
People will want 4K/UHD TV pictures more and more and as I see it Freeview just would not have the space so we will all want fibre internet into our homes, FTTP I think it called.
Just think of when you phone someone it is a mobile number rather than a landline, one of the reasons other than mobile is no line rental.

I have a problem with Emley Moor this lunch time.
Was asked to do a retune and now BBC TV stations are not there.
Will try it again later, are any problems known?

DAB radios for the home need a better way of tuning in stations and far better displays of information mine looks vintage not modern at all.

Is this when a HD TV or box will be required in order to receive even SD IE change to DVB-T2 ?

MikeP which switch over are you talking about?
The one in this timetable or a future one?
I agree people may well change their main lounge TV with 10 years but then it goes to replace say the Dinning room TV, or Kitchen or Bedroom etc. thus people will be upset with the DVB-T2 switchover.
Another thing are suppliers still allowed to sell new DVB-T1 (non HD) equipment?

"MikeB/MikeP: Nobody has sold CRT TV's for a decade (my old one was from 2005), so the vast majority of TV's should either have a DVB-T2 tuner, or at least have at least one or two HDMI connections, able to take a separate HD box. "
I have 4 flat screens in the house only one is DVB-T2 so I doubt majority of non-crt are other than DVB-T1.

Mine said you had to retune but if it did not come back you had use SD.
Mine did return, looks like BBC messed things up with their messing about for the Olympics.
Wish they would leave things alone.
