Not buying one, if I was to decide to would be lost on how to choose one.
Regarding sound most of us have no analogue now soon none will have can we expect the the SD sound to be same as HD sound?

If the TV is not right return it, and go buy one that will get you the Freeview HD, if you should be able to recieve it.

Just done a Google and came up with this,
Crystal Palace TV Transmitter, London Freeview DTT Digital Channels
So is it your TV that will not recieve this new DVB-T2 and my advice to return the TV would fit, or maybe your aerial is not a correct one and you should get the installer back.
( My experience of upgrades from Panasonic is not a good one.)

I have Freesat and it as to be HD TV/Box to get the BBC iplayer I can't get the ITV player.
I have no idea if Sky boxes will do the iplayer on a Sky HD or even your Sky box.
As regards you asking about aerials I'm wondering if you do in fact have Sky as this comes from satellites and a dish is used.

Sounds to me you you would replace the Sky SD box with a Freesat HD box and connect that as the Sky box is to your old TV set and add a BB connect to the new box. I do not know if the Freesat HD would have a scart output that I assume you connect by now though, you would have to look before purchase.
I imagine on the HD channels you would see no improvement in quaulity.
Realy you should consider a new HD TV set with Freesat HD built in or Freeview HD built in and check before purchase it will get the iplayers.

Either the broadcaster not giving the best picture he could on HD or your set not as good as it should be.
My Panasonic Freesat HD TV is slightly better on HD than SD, but HD sound is at a lower level.
