Below are all of Toni's postings, with the most recent are at the bottom of the page.Winter Hill transmitter and satellite Bacup transmitter no BBC TV channel reception. Are the proposed works (?) for this week actually on tonight Monday 7th May as I have no BBC TV reception at all?

Following the trail on use of early (or later) Sky equipment to view (Sky) Freesat channels sometime ago I arranged this with Sky with no problem keeping my Sky HD+ Box on the Sky contract and my early Sky Box off contract and incidentally do not need to pay for multi-room either. However, as the original Sky Box is located in a different room to where the signal is required can anyone recommend a suitable non-wired solution to enable transmission of Freesat signals from the original Sky to another TV?

I live within scope of both Winter Hill and Bacup sub tramsitters and although I have successfully retuned both my cheap-end of market Freeview digi-boxes, I have also tried retuning my NOVA STICK PC which is USB connected to a PC I have apparently "lost" all BBC channels and some others can anyone suggest whether this is a problem which can be resolved or if I am "stuck with it" as I do not wabnt to retune to the very limited Bacup sub transmitter?

Toni2has:
Looks as if we have a "local" problem with Winter Hill transmissions for mainly BBC and some orher channels, obviously I am not the only one suffering from this situation since the retune on 10th April and yes I have attempted several retunes on the Nova Stick what I cannot understand is that my cheap Freeview recepotors appear to be OK? But what is the solution do we need to complain to BBC after all they are only down the road at MEDIA CITY? (53.2667,-2.5000)

Thanks jb38: As far as Michael's comment is concerned I was of course reflecting on others who have commented that they could not appear to retune their equipmemt to Winter Hill's transmissions since 10th April or more to the point the equipment would not retune. After we did not ask for the transmission changes to occur and of course filters may yet be necessary on some equipment! I have in fact just succeeded in receiving all channels on my Nova Stick by entering the Hauppage program on my PC and removing all EPG records and station logs and then rescanning which has worked!

I have elderly relations in Christchurch near Bournemouth on South Coast they make extensive use of Freeview services but have a routine (or is it regular?) problem with interference at precise times of day resulting in complete loss of service or at least pixelation and sound loss. This lasts for several minutes and iof I recall is araound 16:30 PM or was until clocks changed which now have changed the time by an hour. Can anyone throw some light on this or do others suffer? Can it be stopped or investigated as it has apparently gone on for some years. My relations aerial and set up was by a competent local installer.

My elderly relations live in Christchurch BH23 and have Freeview set up by a local installer. For years they have suffered routinely a loss of signal on most channels or at least severe pixilation at regular times and often twice a day or more, e.g. between 3:30 and 5:30 PM but lately this can be at any time. Anyone suggest likely cause as I believe they do receive their signals from Rowridge?

Response with thanks to Dave Lindsay and jb38
I will look at the aerial next time I visit my relations and see if its both level and turned to either vertical or horizontal and in view of Dave's observations whether it is high enough, i.e. pole or bracket mounted? I was amazed at how regular the disruption was though bearing in mind location it was almost as if some nearby military or private system was being switched on for a period just like a scan sequence. Thanks anyway.

TV 3D HD Phillips built-in Freeview but the connected aerial is currently pointed to a local booster station. How do I get and know I am getting Freeview HD on my Phillips TV?
The main regional station is Winter Hill and I can get good occasionally variable reception on high placed Freeview add-on boxes which are connected to other portable TV's.

jb38 I suppose Murphys is another word for it but I was thinking more S**s Law, must be co-incidental as DVD VCR was working OK even during the cabling rearrangement process. Hence have located a local repairer to giove it the once over apparentyly quite common if no power requires two diodes to be replaced? Will have to await repair or replacenment but do not want an all singing and dancing HDD Freeview DVD VCR set.
