Freeview reception - all about aerials | Installing
Sunday 9 January 2011 9:18AM

hi Briantist etc
I have just bought a FreeViewHD tv and can't get any digital channels at all. It will only find analogue channels BBC1, BBC2,ITV1 & Channel 4 (which is all we could receive on our CRT set) . We have never been able to receive Channel 5.
We live in NN3 and receive signal from Sandy Heath.
We did the test on teletext page 284 and it looks like we should be ok to receive Freeview after the switchover in March but will we receive BBC1, BBC2 etc as well?
I suppose I need to decide whether to wait until the switchover or get a new aerial now?
many thanks for any help any one can give.

hi Jella
We had the same problem and Briantist advised a new aerial, which was fitted on Friday 14th Jan. We now have loads of digital Freeview channels, radio etc it's great ! Aerial cost was £120 including new pole, brackets and £50 to convert 2 tv's in bedrooms to digital.
Thanks again Briantist.

Hi again Briantist
firstly, thanks for the info, we had a new aerial fitted on Friday and we now get digital tv and lots of Freeview channels.
I have one further question if you don't mind. We have a Sharp Combi vhs & dvd recorder and it seems we can still only record the analogue channels. I thought I'd read that we could still use our 'old' recorder but it would only record the channel we were watching and I assumed that included the digital channels ?
