Thanks first to Dave for the reply last month. I had my aerial taken down over concerns about damage to the roof. The chimney is short, 6-7 bricks high, and the aerial pole large (16 feet), secured to the chimney via a single chimney bracket. The overall effect was that the chimney was cracked and toppling over and the aerial was lopsided, pointing more upwards than directly towards Crystal Palace, which may have explained the poor reception. I have now fitted a new aerial, mounted on the wall, and pointed towards Crystal Palace. I'm happy to say that all is now working, including ITV.
Thanks for your help.

Henley-on-thames
Hi,
I have a new freeview TV and I'm looking to use my roof aerial which, I believe, is pointing approximately ESE.
My current reception is poor and I'm only able to watch a handful of the freeview channels that are scanned. For some reason, the scan does not even pickup ITV1 and ITV2. I get the same results for both the TV and a WinTV PC card when I test separately with the same aerial. So I'm looking to move and/or replace my current aerial and have a few questions :-
1. Which transmitter will give the best reception, both for now and after the digital switchover?
2. How can I identify which transmitter I am pointing to? The software program ScanChannelsBDA_UK shows that my current transmitter is "Network/Region Name = London". Is this Crystal Palace or another London transmitter? How does the Henley transmitter identify itself?
3. Any further advice appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
