We sit slightly downhill from the TV and phone masts. Despite replacement aerial (chimney pole) and cables, the signal from Redcliff has degraded to provide only the occasional BBC1 & 2 (not weather dependent). Is this due to the increasing use of 3 commercial phone transmitters within 200 yards. I believe there are 5 phone masts and the police transmitter within about half a mile? Also is there interference from the Welsh TV masts? We previously received both English and Welsh (Cardiff) analogue channels.

MikeB: A map with contours might change their mind about Mendip.
If you send a vey large bulldozer or a few tons of dynamite to move some hills, 2 nature reserves, a few hundred people in their homes together with Avon Police Headquarters.
We could receive a variable analogue signal from Cardiff. Perhaps affected by the Severn tides and mudflats? The Redcliff relay station was built after a campaign for those reasons. Our experience is that the signal strength from Wales is not enough for digital - a friend tried 2 aerials. We have been told that the signal is not directed to us in England and that is important for digital. Aerial, cables & booster already all professionally renewed. Satellite it is then?
