Below are all of Neil Bell's postings, with the most recent are at the bottom of the page.James Would your neighbour complain of signal loss if untrue? Have a look at the dishes and remember that they are offset. The true elevation of the satellites is probably 25°-30°. If your dish or part of it is in line with your neighbours LNB arm and near to 25°-30° above their dish then it could be true.

Ann You need an aerial to plug in to your TV. if you don't already have one you might get away with a set top aerial as you live fairly close to Crystal Palace. Otherwise check with your neighbours as to what they use. Next up would be a loft aerial and then a rooftop aerial. Neil

When we went digital I thought it would be a good idea to colocate all the BBC channels 1st, then all the ITV ones, then channel 4 and its fellow channels, then channel 5 and its fellows and finally the rest. The idea being that I could then find everything easily but what I have found is that I now watch BBC channels most of the time because I start channel flicking at BBC1 and rarely get as far as ITV1 before I find something interesting.

Stuart/jb38/MikeB & P
Stuart hasn't actually said if his 2 TVs (1 tuner each) and DVD recorder (1 or 2 tuners) have satellite tuners. If they do then a quad LNB plus separate satellite quality coax cable to each tuner is all he needs. If not then he needs to give us more details.

I don't see the link between the continued existence of the BBC and the spread of votes in our 1st past the post electoral system or am I missing the point?
While true to say that the Prime Minister is not elected directly the way that an American president is it is also obvious that he or she must continue to enjoy the confidence of MPs in the government that were elected. Not ideal but it seems to work.
The BBC may well be far from perfect but the way that it is funded enables it to produce programmes of a quality which force the commercial channels to keep standards up in order to retain a reasonable proportion of viewers. Again not ideal but it too seems to work.

David Hobbs Like MikeB I'm not familiar with induction loop equipment either but looking on line it would appear that your AVX PDA 100 has a line input and because modern TVs don't have line outputs via phono sockets then your AVX PDA 100 has to use an output via SCART which picks up just the audio output. It would be helpful to know the actual model of your Bravia TV so we can check this out. As MikeB says you should use HDMI leads to take the video and audio signals from your BT Vision and Blu Ray boxes in to your TV and then whatever is coming out of your TV speakers should be coming out of the induction loop connected to your AVX PDA 100. Do you have anyone around who could check if audio is coming from the speakers?

I now don't understand what is happening with your set up. If the SCART socket on your TV does indeed output audio then why would it behave differently when the TV is getting its signals from the BT Vision Box rather than the internal TV tuner? If your AVX PDA 100 is indeed getting an audio output from your TV then it should work regardless of which input is being used by the TV so there is plainly something we are missing here.
What is the actual model number of the Sony TV? How is the Samsung sound bar connected to the TV? Or is it wireless? What is its model number?
The reason we ask for actual model numbers is so that we can look online at the instructions/specifications to see if we can work out what should be happening.

I think I may have remembered something. My 2010 model Sony Bravia smart TV does have one SCART socket which can be set to output but I think it only worked with the internal tuner and not with another input to the TV so that may be the problem you have with your BT Vision box and that you will have with your DVD/BluRay recorder. Try MikeB's idea first of using the earphone socket if you can find the menu to split the audio output and if that fails then get a digital to analogue converter which takes e.g. an optical output from the TV and provides left & right audio phono sockets which you can connect to your AVX PDA 100.

Hi David I couldn't find the KDL-50W68xA model on the Sony website but it maybe academic. The only issue I'm not certain of is if the optical/TOSLINK output you are using from the TV to your soundbar can be used for a Digital to Analogue converter at the same time but I'm sure jb38 or MikeB will have the answer. I am fortunate in that my older Sony TV has analogue audio phono outputs which I feed in to my HIFI amp & so don't need a D/A converter YET!

Bill Wardhaugh: Is it possible that your digital box has developed a fault? Could you try it on the other resident's aerial lead or borrow a small digital TV and connect it to your aerial lead to see where the fault lies?
