debbie: Whats your postcode - it will help work out what channels you should get, and what type of aerial are you using? (indoor, roof, etc, etc).

What make and model of tv is it?

Amisfield: Since there appears to be no problems with the transmitter, I suspect its your system.

Steve P: What do you mean by 'unreadable'? Since I dont watch 'Pointless', I don't really know the size of the on screen print, but I assume its big enough to be read by the average person.

If the screen is shown in letterbox (as my CRT now automatically does), then they might be a bit small on a 14in screen. I assume the TV is showing a good picture otherwise. The other thing is of course our own eyesight ! I speak as someone who has reluctantly just got his first pair of reading glasses....

andy p: none at all - they are totally different systems. Your sky box will still get you some basic channels, and of course there is always freesat.

Apologies - are you getting your bt sports package via your sky box or using the broadband service?
Because obviously not having sky would have an effect on your reception!

ben corfueld: Have you checked that your TV is using the Freeview tuner? Sometimes you can accidently switch back to the analogue tuner.
Check that the remote isn't stuck. Frankly, you should seldom need to bring up the menu for scanning new channels, it should do it automatically.

Anita: perhaps the clue is when you mentioned your problems started after heavy rain. If your aerial is outside, then water getting into a damaged cable, etc could cause problems.

Its unlikely to be 4G - the actual number of problems with 4G that have occured on this site over the past year have actually been very small. If you put your post code into your next post, we can see if there are any particular problems with reception at your location, etc.

Keith: A postcode would be very helpful (if you put it in to the site when you next post, lots of useful links will come up automatically) - but assuming your getting Pontop Pike, you've lost the PSB2 mux, at least.

Somebody else will know vastly more about that I do, but first thing to do is to check your system. Is there a fault with a cable, a break in a lead connected to the aerial, etc? If you can check each bit and make sure your OK, you can narrow down the problem.

Andy p: The reason why I asked is because there are three ways to get BT Sports, as you can see from this link: Order BT Sport now

The first is what you are using - via broadband and an app. The next is via a BT Box, such as Youview. The third is via Sky (BT and Sky are after the same kind of customers when it comes to sport). I first assumed you where getting BT Sport via the first two methods, but then thought about it!

As it is, dont worry about it, because they are entirely seperate systems - broadband is broadband. If you want, you could get a deal with BT for a Youview box to replace your Sky box for recording, or use your twin LNB dish, but swap out your Sky box for a Freesat box instead.
