'So there!'
I know the snow has shut the schools today, but you dont have to sound like a five year old....

Gordon: The only thing thats changed is that the signal used to be analogue, and now its digital. Nothing else really has. If you getting problems, then the most likely problem is your system - check for water getting into connections, etc.

John Shield: Check the details for Jersey - but its unlikely that commercial channels will want to spend the extra cash on what might be a relatively small audience.
Try Freesat instead.

Rega: All we've pointed out is that if you want to watch C4 in HD, then you cannot watch it through your Freesat box (which is fine for everything else).
The Manhattan box is less than forty quid, will allow you to watch C4 in HD and if you hook it up via ethernet to your router, you will get Iplayer, thus making your TV a bit smart.
You dont have to throw anything away, just add a box. Of course if you are happy to just stream C4 in HD, you could go for any number of streamers, such as the Amazon Firestick, which is also less than 40 - and I can talk to mine!

Rega: If you want to record, then yes, your going to have to buy another box, and it wont be cheap.

Where to start....
'Freeview is going in the bin I think - we've had just about enough
of rubbish signals rubbish programs logos and text all over the screens
and picture quality massively below VHS tape !!!
We spent good money on HD equipment and they are STILL broadcasting HD as interlaced.
Its about time ALL channels were HD as well.
The signal strength is pretty much the same as analogue - and the picture quality certainly isn't below VHS tape - if you think it is, you need your eyes tested.
HD interlaced? So its below VHS quality, but 'only' 1080i? Which is the problem here - quality awful or not quite full HD? You cannot complain about both.
I'd like it if everything was in HD - blame the people who still insist on having a DVB tuner, rather than just getting a T2 tuner - if there was enough takeup then SD would vanish.
And the menu system is....the menu system. Nobody is driving you to watch rubbish programmes unless you want to.
A lot of noise....

Richard Baylis: 'So what you are saying then that changes are planned without any consideration for the loss of major broadcast channels for a proportion of populace that live in more remote areas to provide for future mobile capacity that also doesn't cater for people in remote rural areas. Terrific. '
Steve's not saying that at all. He's simply pointing out that such changes are long planned, and try their best to cover as many people as possible. Has anyone actually lost 'major broadcast channels' - if they have they were pretty marginal anyway.
And if your in a remote rural area, you do have to put up with fewer services than those in built up areas - you probably dont have too many world class heart centres in your village either. If you want the full range of channels (bar C4 HD), then go for Freesat.
Whatever you might think of plus 1 channels, the reality is that they pay the bills - someone has to pay for the transmitters, and the bulk of those are commercial channels, who are interested in the bottom line - they have to be. You cant supply all channels on all transmitters, and somethings are not going to be possible with the existing capacity.
