John B: Try retuning to the correct transmitter. You can check which one it is by putting your postcode into this website, and then following the various links. If you've a rubbish Goodmans box like mine, its probably found the wrong transmitter, on a lower RF channel. They do not manually tune.

Raphal: MikeP is right, we need a postcode. But I'm willing to bet that your equipment has found the wrong transmitter on a lower RF channel first. You need to manually retune to the right one if you can.

colin: The internet and your TV signal have nothing to do with each other. We need a postcode to check your transmitter, signal path etc. However, if your signal has become much weaker, make sure your tuned to the proper transmitter (something that now seems to be a plague), since in your case you really should be using Ridge Hill anyway.

Secondly, check your system. Is there a loose connection, frayed wire, etc?

Dave Hunter: OK - I have to tell you that my Goodmans box has also started freezing up the past couple of weeks (the bush and the Goodmans are same apart from the name). There seems to be certain channels its worse on, but retuning isn't going to make a blind bit of difference (since they dont manually tune, it can make things worse). BBC channels tend to be worst for this, but I suspect its the box reacting badly to a slight change. Software patches seem very unlikely.

I'm thinking of chucking the box if its not much better, since the only way I can reset it is to pull out the power at the back, and put it back in.

In the long term, any new TV will have a decent tuner built in...

John Everingham: From your initial post, can I assume that your TV has a digital receiver, and the Proline (?) set top box is a recorder with a digital tuner as well? (sorry, I'm not familar with either brand). OK, its not really possible to explain why their freezing, although I'm having a similar freezing problem with my Goodmans digibox, so it might be certain channels interacting horribly with the software - there was a freezing problem caused by software with Bush/Goodmans sat. boxes five years ago Software Update Causes Mass Box Failure | Join Freesat which sounds a bit like what we are experiencing. I'm not holding my breath for a software update, and I very much doubt that will happen for your kit. I'm hoping that after the retune, the problem might sort itself out, but in the meantime, you might do some of the following: Is it freezing on certain channels? I suspect that the BBC channals are the ones that cause problems for my box (apparently it froze on BBC1 the whole day today), and if you keep a note of what channels are causing problems, at least you will able to narrow down the cause. A postcode would help - if only to see if there is a particular pattern (a single transmitter?), and of course to see your notional signal strength. And check the connections - is the aerial and scart lead working properly? In the longer term, you might conclude that life is easier with a new TV/recorder (I know my CRT wont be replaced until it dies...). A Humax PVR has both scart and HDMI, twin HD tuners, and will get you Iplayer. Its also pretty reliable, and is currently £164 (although its strangly vanished from my works website). If you've got HDMI only, then that or a Panasonic PVR would be fine. For a new TV, etc, find the right size, and go for one of the four major brands - they tend to work pretty well.

M Bennett: A postcode and an explaination of what you mean by 'lose of signal' would be helpful.

Isla: I'm having the same problem, although it started happening weeks ago (and apparently I'm not the only one, judging by both this site and some reviews : http://www.sainsburys.co.…ml). Could be a software glitch. I've had no luck on the net finding any sort of advice, certainly not from Goodmans. Whatever you do, dont retune, once you've got a decent signal. The blessed thing does not manually tune, and its a pain trying to find the right transmitter. Its certainly not going to prevent the freezing up. I'm afraid I really dont have any solotuions, You could check the signal strength, and what channels are prone to freezing. I'm going to contact the BBC, since those channels seem to be the worst for freezing, but other than that, I think the best thing to do is to buy something else! I know thats what I'm thinking.

Isla: The hard reset advice sounds like they know there is a problem, but have no idea what to do ('have you tried tunrning it off and on again?'). Go to JL and ask my Tech Support partners if they are having any problemswith that box - I was working yesterday and was too busy to ask them (I work in Audio/TV at....), but I know that the Goodmans box is the only SD Freeview box we sell - thats where I bought mine! The next one up is the Manhattan HD receiver, which someone asked about on this site a week or so ago. I hear decent things about it (and actually put one through the till yesterday), but at £59.95 http://www.johnlewis.com/…5174 thats a bit of a jump. If you have a CRT TV, then the HD is not much use to you, and any new TV you buy should have one built in. Yes, you get Iplayer, but frankly, if you needed a scart connection, I'd buy the Humax PVR for £164, which records, has two HD tuners (so you can use one to watch, one to record), gets you Iplayer and you can use with any new TV. I'm going to contact Goodmans, but since it sounds like a software glitch associated with BBC channels, I'm going to email the BBC as well. Such things do happen, as lots of us with Sony PVR's found out a while back when the EPG got updated and froze our recorders. Hopefully, there might be a solution, but if not, there are possibly alternatives.

liz: You should tuned to Sandy Heath, with a decent signal. If all your TV's are saying 'no signal', thats exactly what it means - there is no signal coming from your aerial/s, probably caused by a break, etc.

If you were using one aerial with a powered splitter/amp, then the power supply failing would have the same effect. However, its a bit odd to have an outside and loft aerial fail at exactly the same time. I'm wondering if they are connected in some way (why?), and a failed connection or dud power supply etc has caused the whole thing to fail. have a look in the loft, and see how its all connected. If you can't, you'll need to call someone out.
