Hi jb38, have brought another 4G filter to go directly in the back of the TV, so with the one in the booster in the loft and the one in the back of the tv maybe it will help, however the kids are playing sky landers now so i cannot check if it has.
If it has made no difference i will take it back to Maplin and try your idea of taking the TV upstairs to my daughters room and checking it on that Ariel.
Just don't understand why this is not effecting the borrowed set top box, i even placed it behind the tv on the same level as the TV but it still did not blip once.

Thanks again all for all the help, this is like having a steering wheel down my trousers.........it's driving me nuts!!!

JB38,
Cheers again for the advice and i do have a tetra station near to me, However i am getting near the end of my tether with this one, I think i may just go and buy a new TV and put this on in the play room where hopefully it will not get effected.
However do not really want to spend the cash if i don't have to.
I thought that the 4G would also help with the Tetra, but i was obviously wrong there. However whatever i try seems to not work so i am now really getting annoyed.
If i get a tetra filter do i not need to fit it before the booster 4G splitter? or can i fit it in the back on the tv like the one i purchased for 4G over and above the one in the loft.

Thanks again
Rob

Jb38,
Would you recommend trying the tetra filter then between the Ariel and the booster, i am becoming a wiz at fitting Ariel cable fittings now anyway so might be worth a try.
If they are coming in from a good screen cable i have the type with the brade and the foil then the screening on the Sony TV and dvd must be shocking. Still strange this has only just started since just before Xmas still.
The 4G should have removed then at the booster in the loft as i have fitted it Ariel to booster to output of booster. The extra one i purchased for the back of the tv then is probably doing nothing.

Regards
Rob

Hi JB38 / Pickpilot
I am probably within 1/4 of a mile of the tetra station i think and i think it is new, emailed airwave the people who run them and they have emailed back saying that they are looking into it. Just purchased a tetra filter off ebay, says it will be here for Tuesday or before so will try that. The police station is near by and the Thames Valley police HQ has a massive tower which my Ariel pretty much points straight at, being this close to it, it is difficult to avoid.

If this does not cure it i think i will have to buy another TV, really dont get how its only affecting the Sony Bravia and Sony hdd / dvd player and seemingly only in one position. Scared however i will buy a TV it have the same issue and i can then not return it.

Again Thanks for all the help.

So, I have a tetra filter on the way but really i am not holding out any hope with that one. Going to take all of the gadgets from the tv today, Sony PS3 and hhd player and set top box and put them down the other end of the room to see it any of them are the problem. Then that's the end of me trying to get to the bottom of this, if it is next door there is not much i can do and to be honest i don't think it is, i have a 1930's house with solid walls so i doubt any signal could get through that.
The only other thing it can be is a fault on the Sony tuner around channel 60, The TV is under 5 years old so have contacted Sony as i am sure they used to come with a 5 year warranty.
Don't think the Ariel can be at fault as the picture is perfect on the Alba 300HD i have borrowed also i set the Ariel through my HHD recorder as the TV does not have a Quality meter (why the F not seeing its the most important) and all is looking good at 70 to 80 signal and 100 quality on all channels.

Thanks again all for your help.

Will keep you up to date

Rob

Hi All ,
Another update, unplugged all of the other gadgets and still and glitching. So i have moved the TV to the other end of the room with the fly lead and there we go it has not glitched once and i have been watching it for the last 45 mins. This defiantly means that the interference must be entering the TV from the back of the set from next door.
I have spoken to them and they have turned off there phone for a couple of days and that does not seem to have helped. They have a virgin cable and he has noticed the picture quality is not great on his TV, however it is all installed under there floor so moving it is not an option.
So the question now is what can i do to shield against the signal from entering the back of the TV as i don't think there is an option to change anything next door.

Again thanks for all your help.

Kind Regards
Rob.

Hi All,
Just been round to next door and they are having some issues with there TV reception through there virgin media box which looked like an older model, however these days they all look a little retro so could be new ish. The only other things they have is a phone and base station which is about a foot from the wall however they did switch that off for two days and no joy and a virgin-media super-hub like mine in my house and there's is very close to the wall at the height of about my TV on the other side of the wall.
After returning home i have read something somewhere on the internet that WiFi can cause interference on TV's, Has anyone else had experience of this ?
Anyway they were very helpful and i have asked them if they could get the virgin media engineer back to check out the problem as it seems to be with the virgin installation to me and they have agreed to do so.
I am also going to contact them directly as i am also a customer for phone and internet.

Kind Regards
Rob

Hi Caz,
I think my issue is a little different to yours , i have all the channels but only some are effected by this interference issue mux 60 channels. If you have another TV ariel point you could try that if they run off the same Ariel or use a lony ariel lead and move it away from the wall to see if this improves it. I only know it is coming from next door as i have moved my tv away from the wall and the problem stops.
The easiest thing would be to try and move it away from the wall or pop round and ask. Have a look on the signal quality and strengh meter on the TV, you may have a weak signal.

Thanks Mike P,
Hope the neighbors ring virgin for an engineer like they said they would. I cant see this being anything else than em interference, hoping that the engineer will move the offending source.
could by a new tv but don't really want too and there is no guarantee that the new one wont do the same.

Rob

Hi jb38
yet to turn the tv around, i will have a go today if i get the chance, i thought that the shielding on the tv would have been good it being Sony. However this may be the first time it hAs been near any type of strong EMI so may have been faulty all along.
Is there any check i can do inside the TV?
cheers
Rob
