BBC Two HD Channel to launch 26th March 2013
Tuesday 19 February 2013 2:28PM

To be honest,as a viewer i like more choice. That is why i prefer the present arrangement.
For example any new programme to BBC 2 is generally broadcast in HD and therefore simulcast with the BBC HD Channel.
However the HD Channel will air a different programme(in HD) if the scheduled BBC 2 programme is in SD,providing, obviously, more programme choice!

Hi Patrick, interested to read your post.
I suppose most Arfon aerial installs still need mast-head amps? Also do weather conditions cause issues with reception across the Irish Sea?
Finally,is reception of Arfon severely impaired by reception from Cairn Hill?using the same channel numberseg channel 41.
In West Wales, coastal areas, good reception of Mount Leinster is possible, with high pressure,Cairn Hill used to severely co-channel with Presely analogue frequecies.

Briantist,I read that Winter Hill Mux A was moving from Ch 62 to Ch 50,not 59.
Mux 2 is already on Ch 59.

I agree, your call out charge is reasonable. It also depends on how far you have to travel and how many pieces of equipment you need to retune, don't you think?
Customers often, don't take that into consideration.

I appreciate that a number of viewers who cannot receive terrestrial digital broadcasts have either Freesat or free sky boxes. But actually a good number of my customers have both freeview(multi-points) and freesat on their main outlet, domestically,as well.

All DAB transmitters

Its all gone quiet on the DAB front!
What is going to happen to those transmitting Radio stations, this summer when all MXR regional multiplexes close down?
I am aware that some of these services may migrate to the local muxes, which in themselves in some cases will change Band 3 frequencies,to reduce interference to neighbouring local services.
An potential exciting time for DAB radio, lets hope Arqiva/broadcasters get this right,as i think this will go along way to attract listeners to migrate to DAB long term.
But!this could all be in-material unless DAB radio's are fitted as standard in new cars!!!
by manufacturers.

Initially,i was dissapointed that The Wrekin is not included in the above, wondering about the technical reasons why it cannot be SFN with Sutton Coldfield?
With a large overlap in Coverage from S Coldfield (in my working area),positively,i can
see more potential aerial work.i e
re-alignment of W/B Aerial arrays from Wrekin
to S Coldfied.Bring back the skill factor of dealing with lower signal levels, akin to the days when low powered DTT sat with high powered analogue tv signals.
Persuade the many who have not replaced TV
aerials before and after switch-over,to do so.
I see that all power levels for com 7 and 8
are much lower than first muted, but see this as a positive challenge to giving customers a greater choice of HD channels.

Brintist, are you sure they are using only nominal as opposed to maximum co-ordinated power levels for each featured trnsmitter?
