If your TV is newish then as this time my gut feeling is that it is permanent I'm afraid
The main problem being in that their is no communication by the technicians at crystal palace with the public
That along with no communication by the technical staff from the TV manufacturers to the public hence those that are having difficulties are likely to remain permanently
And getting a aerial engineer out still might draw a blank and you'll be out of pocket
As a Microsoft mvp i do have access to the inner circles to some bbc departments and will see what i can come up with but at this time it's not looking good for many like myself

Peter there is a general muck up across the board for many members of the public at this time so i would hold tight and not rush to get a cowboy to take a look
All genuine Aerial contractors that i have spoken to at this time are fully booked for the next 3 weeks at least so would hang fire

TV updates are mainly to do with apps like bbc i player they have nothing whatsoever to do with the changeover or loss of signal

JB
What are your views on the public continuing to get freeview to work well?
My view is if they can to forget freeview and go with freesat
The picture and sound are better and more balanced and in my long experience back to the on digital days of 1992 that should be the way to go and keep freeview as a back up only
I have tried many times to help them with leads so that they wouldn't make such a hash of it but years on it's still a pain and needs a proper overhaul ?

I should add my professional experiences involve knowing when a person or group of people dont know what there doing sure they have all the qualifications as long as a kangaroos leap but like in the bbc programme the apprentice the reality is they are well off the mark and make a hash of what should be straight forward
Broadband is another get me rich i haven't a clue what I'm doing industry

You make good sense and are clearly a professional JB. As for myself i dont get taken seriously despite in the beginning i got the likes of the pioneer chairman involved Mr Sato in the making of the first pioneer on digital box as the original Phillips box like what many people see today with picture freeze and by getting him involved along with a team at Sony we managed to put together 2 boxes that were first class and glitch free
I still have the original Sony at home they were good days all i was to the project was just a unpaid beta tester just like today as a unpaid Microsoft mvp in helping others across the world

If i knew Eric on what could have gone wrong with your set up i would be millionaire
The problem is none of us know and we will need to find out but it could take a while as all those responsible for the switch over wont confess to getting it wrong

Well for the record I've lost all free view from crystal palace today not sure what that's all about but the signal since the switch over has defiantly halved and both my myself and long time engineer are stumped
This is the very first time since 1970 i can remember a down time from crystal palace and yet they tell me everything is sweet their end

I will indeed let you know JB on what transpires on Monday with my talks with digital UK
I still think as a perfectionist that it will be found to be tuner chip related only at the end of the day
As for the work around it will probably be that people like me will have to tune in to there local transmitter only and not one slightly further afield
I am on crystal palace so that will mean that i will have to go on to Reigate at extra expense
