The map for Sandale shows that the transmitter is broadcasting with a primary coverage area in green and secondary coverage area in yellow.
As the transmitter ceased broadcasting analog TV services and broadcasts no digital TV services, there should not be any service area shown.
Readers should be advised to consult the page for the Caldbeck television transmitter.

"Time for the BBC Trust to get Worldwide by the scruff of the neck"
The BBC Trust has little or no influence over non licenced aspects of the BBC's operation.
Furthermore since the commercial BBC Worldwide exists to generate profit to supposedly subsidise to a small degree the PSB services of the BBC, nobody is going to do anything to jeopardize that income, when the BBC income has already been slashed under the policy of political interference in the BBC's affairs by the national coalition government.

The question which has been answered is
"Can I receive US tv satellites in Europe"
not the actual quesion of
"Can I get American tv via satellite in Europe?"
the answer to which is YES, but in a very limited manner.
BYU TV and MSNBC, and sometimes the Pacific feed for NBC The Today Show, can be received from Telstar 12 at 15.0° West.

The Pentagon Channel can be received from Eurobird 9A at 9.0° East.
Eurobird 9A at 9.0°E - LyngSat
BET and PTN Europe, which as far as I am aware are timeshifted versions of the USA networks are available from Eurobird 1 at 28.5° East

It should also be mentioned that PBS UK launches its service from Eurobird 1 on
November 1st, 2011, although most expect it will be encrypted and only available to B$kyB subscribing customers.

No signal for PSB-3 at the moment from Moel-y-Parc, so HD transmissions are unavailable at 23:30h, Sunday, November 13th, 2011.
PSB-1 and PSB-2 are normal.
Is this a a fault at the transmitter or a distribution problem for the HD multiplex?

No signal being received, so no reception of HD stations, but PSB-1 and PSB-2 reception normal.
Is there engineering work or a fault at the transmitter or a problem with the distribution of the HD multiplex to the transmitter?

KMJ: Thanks for the response. Yes that is a possibility but I thought inversion effects were less likely late at night, and if the signal from Sutton Coldfield was so strong to swamp Moel-y-Parc I would have thought that there might be a pixellated picture from Sutton Coldfield instead, but the TV was reporting "no or weak signal". Not being physically present at the TV, I was not able to check the signal strength/quality indications.
The receiving antenna is fairly directional, being a Televes DAT 45 with MRD, and the Sutton Coldfield signal would be coming in at approximately 130 degrees counter clockwise from the direction the antenna is pointing at Moel-y-Parc.
Thus for the Sutton Coldfield signal to swamp the signal from Moel-y-Parc would be exceptional, but of course not impossible under extreme conditions.
I was hoping to find out if anybody knew whether or not they were actually doing some work at the transmitter and if anybody else was affected. As most people do not yet have a DVB-t2 receiver, the number of people affected would be small.

Gnasher -- a TV receiving licence only permits you to receive TV broadcasts -- it does not guarantee that TV broadcasts will be available.
Also please remember that the BBC are at the mercy of Red Bee, Siemens, and Arqiva since the BBC is no longer a broadcasting organisation but a program schedule provider.
Apart from Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Wales, the BBC do not play out or do the continuity for their TV stations, and have not trasmitted any programs since the privatisation of the transmitter network in 1997.
Remember the political justification has always been that service is always provided at a better quality by profit making companies than publicly owned organisations, as well as increasing the wealth of private investors.

Two questions --
What is the purpose of the engineering work at Winter Hill for the week beginning March 4th, 2012?
Will this not affect all off air relays of Winter Hill?
(Since Lancaster, Saddleworth, and Storeton are not relays, these will not be affected.).

Michael: the purchase of a television broadcast receiving licence in no way guarantees you reception of any TV, therefore your question is moot.
If you do watch broadcast TV whether by cable, internet, satellite, or terrestrial transmission, no matter how infrequently, it is required that the receiver is covered by a licence.

The list of analog TV stations is missing TG4 on UHF channel 59, which has been broadcast at low power from Divis since 2005.
