brian: I have the same model recorder as you, but I can't even turned my machine on! although I know there is power as the screen is displaying UPDATE and I can hear the fan going. Has anyone had success with contacting Sony? because they have not replied to my email!!

Dave Lindsay: Both my sony recorders are working normally now and EPG fully functional, and I didn't have to retune. I used my remote Power/Standby to change from Update. I have had to re-enter all the programmes I want to record though.
Thanks to all who gave their advice although sadly none of it worked for me!!

Both my Sony recorders will not switch on all that is showing on the display is Up date. Has anyone contacted Sony at all?
