As advised in the post before yours, the transmitter is the subject of Planned Engineering and has been listed as such for a while now.
If you live in a weak signal area then the effects of the work may lead to no signal at times and if you retuned when you had no signal, it will have just cleared your correct tuning, and you'll have to retune again to see if you now have signal. If you haven't retuned at all - DON'T.
If you provide a full postcode we can look at your predicted reception and might be able to offer further advise.

Just firstly to mention, if you got a fatal error message when trying to post then ignore it, there's a bug in the site software, just wait several minutes to check if your post appears - they normally do.
Your locale is generally predicted to get good reception from Darvel. There are some spots that may get some sort of signal from Black Hill but it's likely to be unreliable, variable at best for the PSBs and poor for the COM multiplexes, so as mentioned by StepvensOnln1 I wouldn't expect success.
You mention reception has been getting worse each year, but no mention of how old your wideband aerial installation is. As you say that these trees are on the "horizon" so I'd be surprised if they were having that much of an impact. Any degradation of your existing aerial installation - water getting into the aerial connector or coax, masthead amp etc. to have a far greater impact. It's also possible the masthead amp may have degraded.
What sort of signal strength and quality figures (or BER/Error figures) are you getting in your TV tuning section for each UHF channel multiplex?
A Group A aerial is likely to perform better for you, but their gain will vary from make to make and model. You should make sure you replace all your coax with high quality double screened coax cable (eg.WF100 or equivalent).

Two immediate points, you can't have ghosting on digital signals, please explain more about exactly what you see on screen.
Which HD channels are you specifically getting a problem with, is it eg. 101-105 inc. and for how long, when did it start?
You are predicted to get good reception of the BBCB HD/PSB3 mux from both transmitters, but also only the PSBs from Waltham, the rest are Variable. All good from Sandy Heath except COM7 which you can forget as this temporary mux is due to close at the end of June as the licence expires and OFCOM have said it won't be extended.
You've mentioned you've re-pointed the aerials so I assume you've checked that the connections are OK - no water ingress and the coax is fine, it should be double screened low loss.
As you are tuning two transmitters I assume you are manually tuning, if not, automatic tuning might not always get the right signals, check you aren't inadvertently tuning Sutton Coldfield or Nottingham.
BBCBHD is on UHF C35 from Waltham and C21 from sandy Heath. Neither transmitter is supposed to be on Planned Engineering at present but lists have been wrong before now!
Have a look in your TV tuning section and see what Signal Strength and Quality (or BER/Error) figures you are getting for each of the multiplex UHF channels.

There could have been some sort of temporary fault, I can't find anything that's showing specific problems. Together TV is carried on the COM7 HD multiplex on UHF C55, are you missing any other channels from that multiplex?
See Channel listings for Industry Professionals | Freeview for which channels are on which multiplex.
If the problem continues you might be best contacting Together TV .
Please note though that the temporary COM7 multiplex is due to close at the end of June when the licence expires and OFCOM have said it won't be extended. Together TV now have a streaming service as detailed on their social media accounts eg. JavaScript is not available.

As long as you have broadband, you would only have to purchase additional equipment if you didn't have a "smart" TV. Connection by the relevant "player" is automatic by the player so there is no worry about "trusting" the internet.
Even then, if you don't have a smart TV, a set-top box is not very expensive. We are also talking at least 3 years away.
