Now 70s is on the G-MAN multiplex not COM5. To see which channels are on which multiplex see Channel listings | Freeview

I'm afraid the G-MAN mux is not known for its reliability, on a number of occasions it has transmitted garbage - the quickest cure I've found in the past is to phone TV Warehouse when they are on air (assuming the picture is garbled) and tell them you can't watch because there's a transmitter fault. They know exactly who to contact, it's usually a configuration issue that can be fixed within an hour!!

The Freeview Detailed Coverage Checker shows that for yours and your mother's postcodes you should have excellent reception of all those multiplexes (PSBs1-3, COMs4-7 & G-MAN and L-MAN).

Your particular issue sounds like a set "memory" problem which on a normal TV is often cured by running an automatic retune with the aerial unplugged (this clears all previous tuning as nothing is found) and then repeating the retune with the aerial back in. In cases where several transmitters might be received, the last retune ideally should be a manual one.
However that trick doesn't work on Youview boxes! They don't even allow manual tuning IIRC, I think you have to do a reset, which might mean you have to redo any scheduled recordings, but check carefully first. I think there's a Maintenance mode and you'd pick the "Reset / Keep Recordings" option but I don't know if it includes future scheduled recordings.

Whoops, typo there, the Angus transmitter is compass bearing 334 degrees (fractionally W of NNW) 74km away ;)

Durris should give the best reception, UHF channel numbers are C28, C25, C22, C23, C26, C30, C55 in the order PSBs1-3, COMs 4-7.

Angus UHF channels are C39, C42, C45, C33, C36, C48, C55, C34 but reception is not quite as good & ArqB/COM6 reception is variable, there's also a Local Mux C34.

I'm afraid some details on these pages aren't up-to-date. For what should be an up-to-date list of which channels are on which multiplex, see Channel listings | Freeview

Brierley Hill's UHF channels are C32, C34, C35, C29, C31, C37, C33 in the order PSBs1-3, COMs4-6, Local.

QVC is on the SDN/COM4 multiplex. Are you having problems with any other channels on that multiplex?
I'm afraid that without a full postcode, we can't give you the compass bearing that your aerial should be pointing for Rowridge, or your predicted reception.

Dover (Kent, England) Full Freeview transmitter

Jane Ward:

Your predicted reception from Dover is very variable at the best of times, but the transmitter is also currently listed for Planned Engineering with "Possible weak signal". The aerial should be pointing at a bearing of 137 degrees for Dover at your location, that's ~SE.
I don't know if you have an unobstructed view at bearing 199 degrees that's almost SSW which would point to the Bluebell Hill transmitter which has slightly less variable reception.

It's not our transmitter, this is an independent Help site. However we can offer advice and information.
The various channels you've listed are on the COM multiplexes - SDN, ArqA, ArqB. For a list of which channels are on which multiplex see Channel listings | Freeview

Whilst the transmitter isn't currently listed for Planned Engineering, that doesn't mean there isn't any - the Freeview list may be in error. Normally you should receive all multiplexes with excellent reception at your location.
The UHF channels for the Wrekin are C23, C26, C30, C41, C44, C47 in the order PSBs1-3, COMs4-6 check in your tuning section that your are tuned to those channels.

Dover (Kent, England) Full Freeview transmitter

Jane Ward:

Meant to add that retuning when you have no signal is never a good idea as it will usually just clear all correct tuning, and you have to retune again when signals return.

There's a bug on the site at present and I can't see your full posts. The BBC have reported a problem with the Caldbeck transmitter and it was "Off the air" due to essential engineering from 0:45pm to 1:11pm on 8th Sep 2020.

If you still have further problems please post on the Caldbeck TV transmitter page with a full postcode.

Peter J O'Reilly:

As has been posted many times around this site, the owner has not been able to keep up with all the recent changes, the channels you listed are now on multiplexes you probably can't receive. If you have any queries, ask away, for Freeview, use the link given by js.
