The Rowridge transmitter is currently listed for Planned Engineering with "Possible weak signal".
TalkingPictures TV is on the ArqB multiplex, if you've been having trouble with any other channels on the same multiplex, this may be the explanation.

Freesat is what the name implies and you'd need a satellite dish and LNB and it has no bearing on Freeview reception.
If you are continuing to have problems, please post back with a full postcode so we can look at your predicted reception, also details of which other channels you are having problems with.

Hmm. Well I'm now out of ideas except to have to come back to an earlier suggestion about checking that your downlead is undamaged and that your aerial seems intact and pointing in the correct direction. You need to check for water ingress into the aerial connector box and your downlead as this is sounding rather like an issue of this sort.
I know there've been several people who've been having difficulty with COM7 reception (different transmitters) and the signal doesn't seem to be quite as resilient as it was before channels from COM8 were shifted to it and COM8 closed. However I don't think your frequent signal loss is as simple as that. You ought to have 100% quality in view of your predicted reception so I really am thinking this is aerial and/or downlead.
My own signal strength is down slightly on what it used to be, but I do have 100% quality and it's never been less than that everytime I've checked.

As you can see from the post before yours, the BBC have reported a transmitter fault.
The transmitter is still currently listed for Planned Engineering with "Possible service interruptions", however the BBC aren't listing any current fault.
If you retuned when there was no signal this will have most likely cleared the correct tuning and you'll need to retune again once signals are back to normal. You may have to try more than once if there is weak/no signal.

Sony have this year renamed Sony Movies Classic as Sony Movies Christmas for the festive season, see Updates and alerts | Freeview they did a similar thing last year.
This channels (and some other Sony channels) Sony moved to Local multiplexes over a year ago.

Unless you live in an area that can receive a Local multiplex (have a local station at LCN 7 or 8 in your EPG) then you won't get this channel. There's only a small number of main transmitters that have local multiplexes most of which are beamed at larger centres of urban population.

I was going to say similar. As you may have noticed from the information at the top of the page, several transmitters (and stations) in different parts of the country share(d) the same frequencies.
Bauer and Global continue to shut down a number of their MW stations so that you need to tune to DAB/FM to continue listening to the station(s).

To be clear, a "booster" is an aerial amplifier. As StevensOnln1 says you do need a signal to boost/amplify! My suspicion is you are just a bit too far from Rowridge even if your aerial has the rods Vertical (Rowridge has both polaristaions for the 6 main multiplexes, but COM7 and Local are only horizontal and the horizontal signals will be weaker) but reception across your postcode district is very variable.
You may get better reception from the Whitehawk Hill transmitter but that will depend on location and only a full postcode can give a feel for the predicted reception. The Findon transmitter may be closer but that is a "Light" transmitter with PSB multiplexes only so won't have the COM muxes that you seem to be missing at present.

According to the Freeview Coverage checker there is a "Live issue" which could be affecting reception. The BBC Transmitter checker says the transmitter currently has reported faults although the only detail it provides is for the 10th October. Whilst the transmitter isn't currently listed for "Planned Engineering" it appears there may well still be an ongoing fault if you are still having reception problems.
You need to provide a full postcode to readily get the most accurate up-to-date information.

Updated information - The Waltham transmitter has been on Planned Engineering with "Possible weak signal" which would likely affect your reception of the Local multiplex if your aerial is pointing at Waltham (roughly SSW of you).
