Steve Hampton:

Meant to add, to be clear there are no further planned changes for Whitehawk Hill, current UHF channels are 48, 35, 36 (HD), 32,34, 33 for which a Group K aerial is best (a wideband would do).

Linda Bushell: & StevensOnln1:

I hope they arrange for a Group K, a wideband is not needed for Dover ;)

StevensOnln1: & David Boyd:

Or even a Group K aerial as a wideband isn't needed for this transmitter ;)

Should have added to note that Haslemere is no longer a "Light" transmitter since March 2018 as it now transmits all 6 main Multiplexes.

John:

Hmm, tricky one. According to the DigitalUK checker for your postcode, see About us | Freeview reception of the BBCB multiplex is excellent. Are you not getting any issues with other HD channels on the COMs 7&8 muxes?

Whether slight repositioning of the aerial may help is difficult to say, if you can check that it's pointing at 106deg. (16deg. S of E) - borrow a compass? Whether tilting it slightly up may help, or just alter the problem to just before they touch-down again is almost impossible to say. If you can easily and safely get to your aerial, experimenting is really the option.

Tony:

See the 3 or 4 posts before yours. As has been mentioned it's a commercial decision by Sony and has nothing to do with the licence. There are no Local multiplexes broadcast from The Wrekin (nor from many other main transmitters, they tend to be concentrated on larger urban areas.)

In particular see True Entertainment | free and easy Complain to Sony and see what they say.
Although there have been some further changes since those in the links in that post see Help | Freeview

Also see Channel listings | Freeview for which channels are broadcast on which multiplexes.

Bob:

Apart from seeing the Haslemere transmitter page, as mentioned to another poster, there's a good chance you have an old Group A aerial which will not pick up Ch.36 terribly well and Ch.48 at all. If because of your location any of your reception is bordering marginal, that won't help either. We need a full postcode to make constructive comment on that.

Ideally you now need a Group K aerial for Haslemere (a wideband is not needed). You can get free help if you do not have Satellite or Cable by contacting Freeview on 0808-100-0288 see Important changes to Freeview TV signals Important changes to Freeview | Freeview and also see the FAQs on that page in case they may help.

Charles:

The lower frequency channels will tend to travel a greater distance for the same power so you tend in general to get them with slightly higher strength, so when that is reduced by rain, it doesn't drop to a point where your signal is on the "cliff-edge" and pictures start pixelating.

You maybe in a slightly marginal location, if you give a full postcode we'll be able to make constructive comment on that by examining your predicted reception give by the DigitalUK checker About us | Freeview

John Simon Knight:

Well despite your distance from Belmont (92km) and some small changes in power on the COM multiplexes, you are still predicted to have very good reception of all. Whilst you are much closer (2km) to Sheffield which is also predicted to give very good reception, it looks as though that one stops transmitting COMs 7&8 in Q1 2020.
As long as you have a Group T/ Wideband aerial you should have no problems with reception see the covergae checker About us | Freeview

After the temporary COMs 7&8 multiplexes close altogether (sometime between mid 2020 and 2022 - definitive dates have not yet been announced AFAIK) then only a Group A aerial is needed (but of course a Group T /Wideband should do).
