I don't know if you've seen this - I only spotted it a while ago when looking for something else -
Tell the BBC | Help receiving TV and radio
It has boxes for selecting Freeview and then one for the EPG !!

Can't find any reports of current transmitter problems, are you still having issues?

Geoff:

This and a number of other Sony channels, Sony moved to Local Multiplexes during summer 2019.
For which channels are on which multiplexes, see https://www.freeview.co.u…ngs.

Sony will have been well aware of which transmitters carry Local multiplexes. These multiplexes are on a limited number of main transmitters that generally serve large urban centres of population.
Transmissions are at lower power than the main multiplexes (however the mode of transmission compensates for this to a large degree) but they are frequently beamed towards the urban areas. This means you might be served by a transmitter which has a Local multiplex but not able to receive it because you location is not covered by that beam.

This will be a commercial decision by Sony, costs of being on a Local multiplex will be lower than one of the main COM multiplexes. You could try contacting Sony Pictures TV (see https://media.info/organi…on), the more that do then the more likely they may change something!

It depends on where exactly in S.Derbyshire you are, as some areas are still served by Sutton Coldfield and there are some that can actually receive several transmitters. Sometimes you have a choice depending on whether you may want West Midlands or East Midlands news.
If you provide a full postcode, we can look at which transmitter(s) you might be predicted to receive.

If the choice happens to be very limited, then as you have said, satellite may be the way to go, some modern set already have an in-built satellite tuner so only a Dish and LNB is needed.

What were you watching when this problem occurred?
Is it happening with all BBC & ITV channels?
If the answer to the 2nd question is yes, which model of LG TV is it?

Update. Just been reading about a historic problem where some sets hadn't correctly updated for the GMT/BST time changes and this affected reception of stations. One of the sets was a Roberts Gemini CRD26 with firmware 1.31.1.9-1 I assume later firmware fixes the issue.

But that doesn't mean that other makes of set or models don't have the same problem. Apart from hassling the manufacturer if it's a more recent set, there are two possible "fixes" depending on the set.

Unplug it from the mains for more than 10 seconds - and not running on any battery (backup) presumably.
Tune to an FM station (if the set has FM) that doesn't have a DAB equivalent if the set auto-switches to DAB if it's a better signal!

Nothing like making it easy!

Login - Support by AQIPA seems to be a totally different issue, but interesting that the so-called "rolls royce" of sets aren't bug free!
