Judith:

Have you input your postcode to the Sony TV (assuming it is able to accept it) so it downloads and uses the correct regional setup information?

My Sony TV recognises over 150 services, from Waltham and Belmont, but only tunes to the Waltham services.

I input a postcode to my Sony TV. It is only 2 years old.

If your TV is older - from the time when any extra channels were thought a bonus - you may only have the option of a full scan and then have to edit the channels found.

From Melton Mowbray your aerial will be pointing towards both Waltham and Belmont.

After the 31st August you could try fitting attenuators to your aerial to reduce the signal from Belmont to below the level your TV can detect. Until Waltham goes up to its post-DSO power level on 31st August you would probably find there is little practical difference between the signal levels from Belmont and Waltham.

There might be a firmware update to help with the problem with your Sony TV at http://support.sony-europ…n_GB (NG125HU)

Channel 58 from Waltham will remain on low power until 12th October.Channel 58 is not an HD channel.

HD transmissions are on channel 61. Look for station numbers 50-54.

Your problem at Redmile may be that you are so close to Waltham that the increased signal strength is too much for your equipment. Channel 61 is the highest power channel from Waltham.

Try fitting an attenuator.

Attenuators are measured in dB and need to match the frequency range to be reduced in strength.

See e.g. VHF/UHF Variable Attenuator | Screwfix.com and note the fixed reduction options also shown on the page.

Is your Pace box on TVs and boxes that do not support the 8k-mode | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice

If so, you need a new box and you will receive nothing after October 12th.

Transmission power has increased with switchover. The signals you are receiving are now stronger than they were.

You can leave things as they are or fit an attenuator to reduce the signal strength from Emley Moor and Sutton Coldfield.

If you want to fit an attenuator, leave it until after October 12th when the last mux at Waltham goes to full post-switchover power.

Helen: Check for, and apply if available, firmware updates for your TV on its manufacturer's UK site.
Also check whether it is possible to increase the internal memory, in case the problem is lack of space as Dave Lindsey suggests.

Ms P Fitzpatrick: Get the cable and connections to your aerial checked.

If water has entered the junction box at the aerial the connections will corrode and the signal passed from the aerial to the cable will become weak or non-existent.
