Below are all of Richard Miller's postings, with the most recent are at the bottom of the page.I have just acquired a Bush Freesat HD recorder. I have problems with it.
I have been told by Bush that my satellite signal is too strong. If this is the case how do I reduce it without losing quality?
I have a perfect picture on all channels.
Thanks

I thought that it was b*****t but I did ask. Bush were simply making excuses for a product that actually could be a lot better I suppose.
Yes a normal sized dish is in use and the problems are with recording!
Thanks for your help

I rang the customer technical helpline at Bush. The readings were the first thing he asked about which were 97/100 and 95/100 at that time. He claimed that 100% could mean 150% or even 200%! This excess current
he stated would mess up the hard disc! He was aware that it was a freesat box from the two readings.
Thanks for your help again

I had a spare satellite dish which I moved to 19.2 to get European stations. When the lnb packed up I found an offer of a new twin offset lnb at the same price as a normal one. I didn't know that my dish was too small but fitted it anyway. The 19.2 signal was improved in both quality and strength . I have just retuned the box and now find that I am getting not only 19.2 but the majority of 28 programmes. Is this an anomaly (I live in Poole Dorset) or has something else changed.

You don't have to change the postcode-just scroll to the bbc program in the 900's and click on record as before!

Further to your article regarding loss of signal it may be useful to read the following comment.
I purchased a satellite kit which had all of the components necessary to receive free to air transmissions. At a later date I upgraded the receiver with a freesat box and used the existing set up with the addition of a further cable to the new dual LNB.
The freesat box started to lose channels. I investigated and found that the original cable (which was only four years old) had perished on the inside due to inferior materials.
Other people must be having this problem. The kit was manufactured by Ross (it had a Ross box).

This Freesat box featured does not allow for users wishing to connect up to video senders or DVD recorders via scart connectors which have been eliminated from this box. My original Humax HDR 1000 is eight years old and still working well. However I bought a reconditioned HDR 1000 as a backup and hopefully will have at least another eight years of use.
I bought a fire stick for streaming -far more convenient than anything else and can be moved from room to room, TV to TV with ease.
I continue to make DVD copies of programs although most of my 15year library can now be found in various streaming sites re-runs of rugby and some football matches cannot.

I have a humax hd box. I have now got 4hd showing but no signal.
The signal quality on freesat is only 40% but I get all the other channels-is 4hd being broadcast on some other frequency other than the normal ones that I get.
I don't understand transponders and all the other jargon-should I just give up?
