John:

Thanks for the feedback and confirming that turning the aerial has significantly helped.

Terry:

Recheck that ALL the connectors are fitted onto the ends of the coaxial cables properly. There must be NO connection between the inner core and the outer metal braid and/or sheath. If there is it will prevent your system working correctly and can possibly damage the STB.

David Lee:

We need a full post code for your location so that we can look up what the signal reception conditions are like where you live.

Dee Coleman:

ITV3 is a commercial channel and they decide whether to provide a service to a particular area largely based upon their ability to make a profit from such provision. Darley Dale, though a very delightful area, is not particular heavily populated and so they may have decided there is not enough advantage for them to transmit ITV3 to the area from a 'Freeview Lite' transmitter like that at Darley Dale. Whether there will be any such service in the future is entirely up to ITV.

Val:

Please ask Pick themselves, website link is near the top of this page. That is the same advice we contributors give to all such queries, as you can see from several posting above yours.

This website is mainly intended for reception problems and queries and is entirely independent of all broadcasters.

Nick:

Different makes of TV, or even different models, have tuners which differ in performance and sensitivity. It may well be that the new TV has a less sensitive tuner than the 'old' one.

The other point is that although you appear to have received channel 74 before, you may not be in an area served by a transmitter that provides such. The only way to tell is by you giving a full post code of your Mum's location.

JeffR:

Please try Channel 38. That is not currently used by any transmitter and is well clear of the 4G transmissions that appear to be causing your problems.

Jan van Heurk:

Further to that said by StevensOnln1 and MikeB, it is worth removing the amplifier altogether and plugging the two aerial cable connectors together using a suitable coupler. As you are only 15 km from the powerful transmitter it is likely that you have too much signal causing the tuner to be overloaded.

Please would you then tell us what the reported signal strengths are for each multiplex.

Upgrading from Sky to Freesat | Freesat

Steven Holden:

In my experience indoor aerials are not very effective and don't perform as well as expected. You need to connect the TV to either and outdoor aerial on or just above the roof or, if you are close enough to the transmitter, to an aerial in the loft as long as it has a clear line of sight to the transmitter and can be fitted well away from any water tanks or electrical systems.

We would also benefit from knowing your full post code so that we can determine which of over 1000 transmitters you should be using and what the signal reception conditions are like at your location.

Malcolm Preston:

Further to that said by MikeB though some channels provide a viewing service via the internet not all do. So you could watch some channels but not others. Check each individual channel's web site to see if they do an web-based service.
