Rod:

We really need a full posy code in cases like this so that we can cehck whether your location is served by that transmitter and whether it can receive the local multiplex.

Lindsey:

As far as I can tell it is operational for analogue radio services. There do not appear to be any plans for a DTV service.

Thank you for that, now we can see that your reception from Durris should be very good, perhaps too good? If you have signal strengths of 100% showing then there is a chance that you have too much signal and that is known to give several problems, depending on the behaviour of the tuner fitted to your equipment with such a strong signal. So it is worth checking the signal strengths shown on your TV for all the multiplexes. The ideal is normally to have 55%-85% on SD channels and between 65% and 85% for HD channels, less than this is a problem as is more than those figures. Also check that your equipment has a DVB-T2 tuner system to receive HD transmission such as BBC1 on LCN 101 (uses PSB3), BBC4 HD on LCN 106 (uses Com7) and More 4 + 1 on LCN 86 (uses Com8). If you can get those channelks that would confirm that you are able to receive all the available multiplexes from Durris.

However, there is no listing shown for any transmissions on the frequency of channel 30. Logical channel 30 carries 5Star and STV2 is not mentioned at all if you look at the list shown in the 'Freeview Map' link. Likewise it is not shown in the data shown in the 'digitaluk trade' link. So unless there has been an additional channel allocation that is not shown then it appears that STV2 is not available in your area served by Durris.

In addition to that said above, you should be able to watch STV2 via Sky if you have it or if you are served bu Virgin Media and have their TV service.

R Bagley:

Please will you supply a full post code of ypur location so we can look up which transmitter you should be using and whether it transmits HD signals and carries Showcase. Not all transmitters provide a full range of channels and not all provide all the HD channels as yet.

I assume your new Sony TV has a DVB-T2 tuner that receives all the HD channels such as BBC1 HD on 101?

Keith Rodgerson:

I can confirm that Mendip does not have any current problems and has not had over the last several weeks. I use Mendip as my main Freeview source. StevensOnln1 is correct in that transmitter power is never educed for any significant length of and is only temporarily reduce if there is some major engineering work being carried out, it always returns to normal as soon as the work is completed.

Paul Denning:

There is no fault reported at the Bristol Ilchester Crescent transmitter. Check your aerial cables and connections. Also check you signal strength, if it is above 85% then search this website for 'too much of a good thing' as too high signal will cause your problem.

Further to that said by StevensOnln1, please give a full post code so that we can look up what the signal reception condition s are at your location.

A W Bates:

Though a Sky box has an Ethernet socket, you can only use it for their 'catch-up' services if you have an active subscription. I checked that on my Sky+ box. So if you want to stop your Sky subscription you will need an alternative, perhaps as suggested by MikeB. The Sky box will not be much use for anything other than viewing live free-to-air channels only. Your will not be able to watch any recording you already have nor to make any new ones.

C Fisken:

It is often not just a case of moving an aerial so it points towards another transmitter as it may not cover the channels transmitted by the second transmitter. That would give the effect your are reporting.

You need, as StevensOnLn1 states, to provide a full post code so we can check what transmitters may be available at your precise location (it can vary from one side of a road to the other, hence the need for a full post code).

Further advice may be available depending on the provision of that information.
