john parker:

Engineering work is carried out without any notification of when it will be completed. So much depends on what the work involves and how long it takes the Engineers to complete the tasks required.

According to the BBC, work on the TV transmitters was completed at 1448 and on the DAB transmitters at 1458.

Anthony Brown:

As you have not told us what make and model the TVs are, it is very difficult to offer advice. It is unlikely to be your aerials as they are static devices and do do anything to the signals. So the retuning is entirely due to the TV sets themselves, which are automatically retuning due to the design of their software incorporated in them. Do the sets have any feature to turn off the automatic tuning function? If so, then turn it off and use the manual tuning feature to tune to the correct channels for the wanted transmitter. You can look up those details by entering you post code and house number into About us | Freeview

David Shelton:

Put her full post code into About us | Freeview add her house name/number and select the Detailed option. Then press go and check the list given. It will be the channel numbers, as used by most TV sets. If hers requires actual frequencies, the look at a channel to frequency guide, such as that at UHF channel and frequency guide

Dr. Patricia Thomas:

You are perfectly correct. The National Physical Laboratory, the official arbiter of UK time, tells us not to use 12 AM or 12 PM as they are ambiguous and we should use Noon or Midnight, as you correctly state.

Lloyd Jenkins:

The services on COM7 and COM8 are on channels 55 and 56. Try tuning to those and uyou should get the HD services and others,

We regular contributors usually suggest using the Digital UK Coverage Checker with your post code. That website is maintained by the operators of the transmitters, or on their behalf, so is the most accurate source. This independent website is maintained occasionally by the owner, Briantist.

Christine Carpenter:

Please check the signal strength on your TV, usually shown on the manual tuning page. Ideally you want between 60% and 85%. Less is not good and more can give reception problems.

Chris Benson:

It would have been better to use the Detailed View option as that shows more detail. Look at About us | Freeview and see the current and planned future channel usage. That shows they expect all eight major multiplexes to be easily received, but not any local multiplex.

Looking at the channels being used and proposed for future use, a wideband aerial will be essential to get all the programmes possible.
