Steve:

You would do better to ask Pick themselves, the website is at http://www.sky.com/.

This website is intended to assist those having reception problems.

Better still would be a full post code or that of a very nearby public building such as a shop or post office. That will enable us to look up not only which transmitter is best for your location but also if there are any known problems or reception difficulties in your area. You should, of course, check with your neighbours to see if they are having the same problem.

You should also check you own equipment, includi g the aerial and the leads connecting that to your TV set.

Michael and MikeB:

May I suggest that the viewing figures given for Sky are those for the channels originated by Sky themselves and does not include those for the BBC, ITV, Ch4 and Ch5 services or others not originating from Sky themselves. That suggests that the 'original' output from Sky attracts a much lower audience than does the BBC, ITV, etc.

Also, you should not confuse having a dish fitted does not mean that everyone has Sky services as the same dish is used for Freesat.

Andy:

Further to that said by jb38, if/when you try moving the indoor aerial, please do it slowly and a little at a time. That is to allow your TV set software to respond to the changes in signal level and quality and report same on screen.

Note that Rowridge Vertical services do not include COM7 HD, COM8 HD nor the Local Southampton services. It does include all the other services.

Please contact the actual broadcaster, details available above as inks. This website is not connected with any broadcaster and is intended to assist those having reception difficulties, etc.

Paul Lines:

There is no apparent fault at Mendip, the transmitter I use. It could be a poor aerial connection, so check all of those from the back of the set up to the aerial itself.

By retuning, you will have lost some channels, so after checking everything as mentioned above you will need to retune. But before doing a full automatic tune, if your TV has a manual tune facility try entering channel 33 and waiting a few seconds to see what signal strength id=s shown - DO NOT perform an automatic tuning at this stage. The point of this manual test is to find out if there is any signal received fpr channel 33 and how strong, or weak, it is.

Further advise depending on feedback.

Chris:

BBC4 HD was provided on more transmitters than usual for the duration of the Rio Olympics only. It may no longer be available on many of the smaller transmitters. It was a decision by the BBC to allow extended coverage of the Olympics and as that has now finished they do not wish to pay the extra operating costs to keep it available on so many transmitters.

David Pirie:

There is no reported problem with transmissions from Mendip currently and my reception of COM8 in Trowbridge is the same as previously, giving no problems at all.

I suggest you check what the received signal strength is by checking on your TV set what strength and quality it is reporting. Your User Manual should tell you how to do that if you have not done it before.

If the strengths are in the range of 65% to 85% on Channel 33 then check your aerial connections as they sometimes work lose and cause such problems. If in doubt, change the cables where possible.

Briantist:

Having been a regular contributor to this website for a while now, I have become used to receiving daily emails from the system to show me any new comments or questions. However, I have not received these either yesterday or today (they usually arrive at 1303).

So can you check whether I am still included in the listing the receive the emails please?

Many thanks.

Ian:

It is likely to be due to the hot weather atmospherics. Do NOT retune your equipment, at least not until the cooler weather arrives.
