Mike D - I do not believe Wolfbane's ae choices - I can at home get a signal with a set top loop where they say "amplified high gain"

But they have a very clear presentation of what might be available and relative strength; bearing, etc.

Thanks Mike - £80 plus £20 or more for bits!

It will need to come down!

Would it work throughout a house?

... Grant Goddard : radio blog: PORTUGAL: DAB digital radio switched off

On 1 June 2011, Rdio e Televiso de Portugal [RTP], the state broadcaster in Portugal, instructed Anacom, the national transmission provider, to switch off all DAB radio transmitters.

RTP explained in a press statement that its decision was the outcome of budgetary constraints and the fact that no commercial broadcasters had agreed to broadcast on DAB. Additionally, it said that high priced radio receivers had prevented many people acquiring them.

Says it all really?

How much money is anyone other than BBC spending on DAB?

And as Digital Radio is already broadcast on DTB, what point is there in having a second digital broadcast network?

Mike/Jonathon - Lest there is any doubt, I'm not saying that radio on the digital telly is a substitute for FM/MW/LW; simply that it should be enough for those who want digital toys to play with.

For those of us who just want to listen to the wireless, we do not have a problem with what we now have.

As to commercial radio on digital, how much are they paying for it?

In Portugal - seems not willing to pay at all. And the Portuguese BBC had the sense to take the same view.

I'm surprised that speeds below 100miles per HOUR cause an effect on waves at 186,000 miles a SECOND - but I suppose once you are cramming a lot of information into a waveform things get trickier.

Ask your neighbours if they are.

Then call in a TV and aerial specialist.

Jonathon - I wonder what the total audience of those is? But if they cannot be accommodated on FM, by all means let them be on digital broadcast. I am not hostile to the new; only to the forced obsolescence of what we have.

Are neighbours getting the same?

Could your booster have been depowered? Can you power it on/off and see a difference?

Booster would not make weak signals WEAKER though it could feasibly make them noisier so less effective.

But your change seems to fit in with the timings Brian has noted above - as copied here
