Below are all of Anthony's postings, with the most recent are at the bottom of the page.I've noticed an unpleasant side effect to the pictures on the HD channels;sometimes in dimly lit or poorly lit scenes of programmes there is an unpleasant strobing/comet tailing effect with a unpleasant after-image shadowing strobe effect (similar to what has been seen in 70's pop videos and tv programmes). Nothing is wrong with my HD tv and reception equipment.

stephen craig: NO Terrestrial aerials and cable are NOTHING to do with Sky whatsoever. Terrestrial aerials and cables receive Freeview TV channels from terrestrial landbased TV transmitters. Satellite cables and dishes receive Sky/Freesat channels and services from Astra 2 satellites @ 28.2degE and Eurobird1 @ 28.5degE.
Replace your terrestrial aerial with a new one and cabling pointed at your local tv transmitter for Freeview TV services.

Stu: No UK based channels on Astra 2 will use the UK spotbeam aimed at the UK and parts of North West Europe. Some subscription Sky channels will use the Pan-European beam which covers a good part of mainland Europe.

Michel: Would a better aerial help? A carefully aligned new high gain wideband aerial and fresh cabling would probably improve it somewhat particularly if your aerial has been up for a number of years i.e. corrosion/water in cable etc.

Andrew: What size of dish have you got? All should be well in Northern France as it's in good view of the Astra 2 UK footprint overspill. A bigger 60cm dish may help if you are losing out on a small 35cm minidish.

Where will the 162 new BBC DAB transmitters be? | Digital radioMonday 20 January 2014 11:14AM

I wish the BBC had persevered with Digital Radio Mondiale on MW and Digital Radio Mondiale Plus on VHF-FM 87-108mHz. These systems use existing AM and FM wavebands to provide good quality near FM mono and stereo radio services over existing infrastructure.

A good line of sight with no obstructions to the transmitter may help and an indoor boosted tv aerial might also assist reception BUT this isn't recommended;interference from household electrical appliances/heating timer switches etc coming on and off may cause squeaks/breakup and glitches occasionally.

J Wilkinson: Is there anything in the house that could be causing interference to her Freeview signal ie fridges/heating etc? Is the aerial and/or cables at fault? I would hazard a guess it could be one of those two possibilities.
