I am not getting any signal on BBC channels right now. I have re-tuned three times. It worked okay last night. All other channels are fine with a good signal.

So following John's point, what rights (if any) do we have? We have two receivers that work just fine and one that does not. There must be lots of people in the same position or worse wondering why they cannot get BBC tv (or Radio as I have found). My neighbour has the same issue. Since the Government presumably made some money out of introducing 4G, perhaps they might like to help.

In response to bsk, I also use EyeTV on a Mac. I have found it crashes quote a lot at the moment (a problem I never used to have) and when it does, it seems to go back to the old channel settings. If I do a complete and full re-scan of the channel list I am now getting BBC progs again. There is probably an old and buried file list I need to throw away. It is still annoying.

However my neighbour has a Ferguson F1603LVD2 tv that won't pick up the BBC channels either. Does anyone know how to do a factory reset on that?

Using Elgato Eyetv on a Mac - now tuned okay for 24 hours. I threw away the Locations folder in ... EyeTV/Library/Application Support/Eyetv and did an exhaustive scan

BUT

My neighbour with her old Ferguson TV (not that old - it has a Free-view tuner built in. Cannot get anything now. So it is either a fault with the cable or aerial which has just got so bad there is a insufficient signal or . . . what?

Michael Perry:- (funny that I am Michael Penny!) Thank you for your suggestion. Yes we have done everything in the manual, but I think there must be a signal strength problem as it now fails to find any channels. We share an aerial mast and a satellite dish, but I think we each have separate terrestrial antennae. There are certainly two UHF ariels on the same pole as the dish as well as a VHF radio ariel.

We did that. NBG. We live in quite an exposed location and I think the prevailing winds may have degraded the aerial connections more as each day passes.

When I first looked to see what could be done we were getting sufficient signal for all channels (even the BBC ones appeared occasionally), but somehow the set was not clearing the channels completely and would not hold the new ones in its memory. My neighbour spoke to a help line and was told to do what you suggested - tune it with no antenna attached.

The last time I looked I noticed the signal strength was briefly displayed as 4.9% I had not seen that displayed before.

We are now quite resigned to the fact that we will need to get a new aerial - or at least get the existing connections checked by an engineer. The TV model is a Ferguson F1603LVD2 16" HD Ready Digital LCD TV + DVD. We have the manual.

Jb38. Yes first time installation was tried many times, with & without cable plugged in. As I said I think our difficulties were exacerbated by by a co-incidental problem with a degradation of signal due to the increasing failure of the cable and set up at our end. We will sometime get an engineer in to check that side of things.

jb38: Many thanks for your suggestions. You are so right about seasonal variations. Some people near-by get a better signal from Ridge Hill or even Malvern. We are right down at sea level too. So the diagnosis is leading to low signal strength combined with a difficult to reset tv, that now has a less than adequate signal.

Thanks for your help. Mike
