All posts by Hidey Hi
Below are all of Hidey Hi's postings, with the most recent are at the bottom of the page. Was getting all channels via sudbury until a couple of weeks ago. Fist Dave then Yesterday and Film 4 have all disapeard. Postcode is CO6. I would like to know who to complin to and whether a bigger/better aerial is likely to help. My current aerial is a roof mounted analogue type but I got perfect reception until recently.

Ah yes Geoff and Dave, I did read the previous posts but am really looking for advice as to how best to complain about this. Also the descriptio of my aerial as analogue really just means it was put up well before digital TV but it has, until now, provided perfect pictures - even HD.
So would a bigger/better aerial help or do we all have to wait?

What's really irritating is that I got all channels perfectly until mid November. Thanks JB for all your suggestion. It's muliplexes that carry Film 4 and Yesterday that are now missing and I understand these are now running at a low power level so I assume that low power is the problem ather than overloading.
I just don't see why we have to wait until next summer to get the channels back. My wife is the main one moaning about it so any suggestions gratefully received. As I said the aerial is old and has about 16 single elements rather than the crossed type and as I said it worked fine before.

You really shouldn't need a mast head amp if you live in Sudbury. Anyway, with some different atmospheric conditions I am now picking up Channel 63 with Film4 and Yesterday + the others with my old roof top aerial.
It is true that tuners have automatic gain control, so you are more likely to pick up the weak signal if you do a manual tune on chanel 63.
I did email DigitalUK and they suggested the maual retune, but by then I had the channels back anyway.

Is there a reason why I can receive Arq B channels but not Arq A as it seems to me as if the signal strength for Arq A is higher. On my main aerial I can get all channels fine but it is only on a second aerial at a lower height that I have the problem. What is the "correct" maximum number of chanels that should be available?
