Below are all of jb38's postings, with the most recent are at the bottom of the page.Duncan: Modern DECT phones should not under normal circumstances interfere with with Freeview as they operate on far higher frequencies although non specific frequency digital noise will always be radiated by them, and so the question would be, does the coax from the aerial run anywhere near to the base station or cable to land line from latter? or even one of the handsets should you use same.
The other point I wondered about was if the interference starts as soon as you activate the handset but before dialling a number? if it does then what happens if you disconnect the line from the base station that connects into your landline, because if it stops when you do that then a ferrite ring might possibly cure it, details of dependant on reply.

Cheryl: A Freesat PVR or Sky+ box does not require two feeds from the dish being connected unless for recording purposes provided that the single feed is connected into the boxes LNB1 input, that being the main input as LNB2 is mainly (but not exclusively) used for recording purposes.
However on reading your postings and in particular your initial one where you had mentioned that your Grundig Sky box had just died, in what way are your meaning? is it a "no signal" message being seen or that the main menu could not be viewed when you pressed "services"?

Jill Phillips: The last time you carried out an auto-scan on your box it stored Leamington Spa's ITV1 on Ch50 rather than Sutton Coldfield's ITV on Ch46, this of course being said on the assumption that you use Sutton Coldfield for reception? which of course you will do if you can receive ITV3.
If you do receive ITV3 then you could try "manually tuning" in mux Ch46 and storing same as this "might" take up ITV1's EPG3 position, if not then you should carry out another auto-tune whilst observing the progress bar then pulling the aerial connector out as soon as you see Ch47 being passed, this action killing the possibility of reception from Leamington Spa.
If neither of these procedures work then remove the aerial and carry out an auto-scan as this will delete anything stored, then go into your TV or boxes "manual" tuning menu and enter Sutton Coldfield's mux channels one at a time, storing the results after each scan before moving on to the next channel.

Duncan: Thanks for the update as I did have my suspicions that this might be the case, because even although the digital "noise" (i.e: of non specific frequency) that radiates from these type of devices can be quite intense, thankfully its of a very localised nature when the phone is in standby mode, but with this intensifying once a call is being made because the power rises.
By the way this digital noise can be heard if you place a small portable LW/MW radio thats not tuned to a station anywhere near to the outer casing of either the base station or a handset, as phones radiate all the time they are switched on whether or not they are being used.

Floyd: Well as said in my original reply it all depends on what direction the communal aerial is facing, because on the somewhat dated Google earth view the aerial is seen to be mounted horizontally and appears to be facing Sandy (18 miles / 23 degrees) whereas if it was facing your local PSB only Luton transmitter (0.5mls / 204 degrees) then it would be vertically mounted, i.e: aerial elements pointing up and down.
Your area is known as not being particularly good for reception hence why the local Luton relay transmitter was built, as according to the terrain indicator the line-of-sight signal paths from both Sandy and Crystal Palace is seen to suffer from blockages at 5 & 7 miles respectively out from you, and so its not really surprising that you have problems with some of the commercial channels mentioned in one of your previous postings.
You should have a look up at the aerial and see if its still mounted horizontally, or whether in recent times its been altered to vertical mounting and turned to face the Luton transmitter, because if it has then you must be receiving the commercial channels from Sandy on the rear of the aerial.

Cheryl: To add to that already said, my reason for me enquiring about your Grundig box is simply because that if the problem you experienced was signal related then this could well be the reason for your Humax box not picking any channels up, however the other thing I did wonder about is concerning the setting up of the Freesat box insomuch that its assumed that did use a UK postcode? this of course could be one from anywhere in the UK as all its used for is to enable the viewer to receive the correct news / programmes for the area that they reside in.
Finally, when you found that the Grundig box had failed was this from having been OK the previous day? or was it after a period of not having been used?

Derek: Freesat boxes do not have RF modulators in the same way as does most Sky boxes and so you will have to purchase a separate RF modulator, this being connected into your Freesat boxes scart socket.

Briantist: Just noticed that we clashed within the same minute, but though whilst you are on I was wondering if access to UK Free TV / comments via the twitter link has been dropped? as the last message seen is still sitting at May 9th.

laurence penfold: On the assumption (as no post code given) that you receive Freeview from the Redruth transmitter then what you have mentioned indicates that two mux transmitters have not been picked up during your update, and although you could try carrying out another auto-tune and see if they return, you could on the other hand "manually" tune them in if your TV or box allows.
The two mux channels concerned being: 48 (CITV etc) and 51 (Film 4 etc) only two mentioned as CBBC is on the same mux transmitter as BBC1, and if BBC1 is OK then CBBC should also be.

.Jill Rowan: I would say that Steve P's suggestion of purchasing a Freesat box is by far a much better idea, as although a Sky box might well be able to receive a few odd programme channels not broadcast on Freesat but though by purchasing the latter you eliminate the distinct possibility of acquiring a second hand Sky box with an iffy power unit, as there are many around that suffer from this problem albeit with it being of a nature that does not always show up straight away.
