bill marshall: Yes, please do!. Although to be perfectly honest about it, I feel that you would save yourself a lot of headaches if you purchased more standard type box, as those Philex "free to air" devices are non standard compared to a genuine Freesat device, as of course I am sure you will already be fully aware of.
On the subject of a possible replacement box, should you already have a normal Freeview aerial and reside in a good area for reception? (post code or one from nearby required for checking) then either a Freeview box or PVR might be an easier option by only requiring one down lead.
If on the other hand you do not reside in a good area for reception, then Freesat is the obvious choice, that is "if" the situation with regards to you using your neighbours dish is not likely to change, although should the LNB on the dish be of the older single output type? then this is obviously only suitable for a Freesat receiver and "not" a twin tuner PVR (recorder), as this would require the LNB to be changed to a four output quad version (twin types no longer made) and an extra coax being run into your property in parallel with the existing cable.
By the way, should you be able to change the LNB yourself?, then quad LNB kits can be obtained for as low as £10.00 or so from a number of e-bay outlets, the only extra cost being for the satellite grade coax.

Briantist: Thanks for your explanation, all noted. Although unfortunately I found that I was unable to open / view the reply made to me by your goodself due to the undermentioned message continually popping up, even although it did not on your reply to others.
Still, the main thing is that you seem to have rectified whatever was causing the problem, and as far as I am concerned thats all that matters.

Daphne Goodey: Problems of the nature described are usually always rectified by carrying out a "manufacturers reset" on the TV or box, the procedure also known as "default setting" or "first time installation", all of those procedures having the same result of clearing the tuners memory of everything stored in it, including any glitches that may possibly have occurred.

Martin: Which type of HD box are you referring to, Freesat or Freeview?, and have you tried retuning the box since "plumbing" it in?. Also, is the aerial or dish that the box is connected into known to be OK or not? by having been used by another device prior to you trying the HD box out on it.

pam scotton: Propeller TV can be viewed in the following ways. Via a Sky box on channel 189, or a Freesat TV capable of tuning in non Freesat channels, Propeller TV being on 11.344Ghz - Vertical - 27000 - 2/3.
Secondly. Although Propeller TV is on Freeview EPG 229, the channel can only be viewed on TV's or boxes capable of connecting into the internet. The other point being, that the viewer must reside in an area that receives Freeview from a main station and "not" of the Freeview "light" variety, as the channel required is broadcast on COM6 which is the multiplex used by 4Music(18) / Yesterday (19) / ITV4 (24).

James : There are a variety of possible reasons for your problem, the first being associated with a fault having developed in your HD boxes internal power supply, as what you have mentioned with regards to it working for a while after having disconnected it from the mains "is" exactly the main symptom experienced by users of boxes with faulty power units.
However, taking it on face value that the Grundig installed upstairs never suffers from break up problems, then even although it will be connected into a different output port on your dishes LNB to the other two ports being used to feed your Sky+HD box, the problem is unlikely to be down to the actual LNB itself being defective.
But though, try swapping the boxes LNB1 &2 inputs over for a short time to see if the break up problem still occurs or not, as when you are viewing anything "other than" a recording on a Sky+ HD box (or any + type) its via the LNB1's input, and if by swapping the inputs the picture does not break up, then the feed presently connected into the LNB2 socket is defective.
Further advice dependant on outcome of the test.

Matt Erskine If your box is connected into your own dish and "not" a communal system, then unless the box itself has developed a fault - try switching it completely off for 10 minutes before powering it up again - the fault can only be caused by something having happened from where the coax leaves the "F" connector on the rear of your box to where the "F" connector at the other end of the coax is coupled into the dishes LNB.
Another possible reason being, that the dish has either been blown or knocked, slightly out of alignment, as the movement necessary to do this is of such a small magnitude that it cannot be noticed by the naked eye.

Marianna : If moving the scart plug resulted in you receiving BBC1, then all this is liable to have done is to restore the link between the box and your TV, or if "not" using a separate box? indicate that the aerial connection on the rear of the TV requires checking, pull it out then in again a few times as this action cleans the connection.
If though you "are" using a box, then the scart lead is not connected in any way with reception, therefore irrespective of whether using a TV or a box carry out a "first time installation", this also known as "default setting" or "reset", followed in the latter two cases by carrying out a normal auto-tune.
By the way, are you connected into a communal aerial system, if you are? and still cannot receive anything other than the BBC channels after having carried out the aforementioned, check with one of your neighbours to ascertain if they are also experiencing a similar problem.

By the way, ITV4 is on the same multiplex as (18) 4Music, (19) Yesterday
etc, and if the reset procedure does not resolve the problem, then the
model number of the box plus your location (post code or one from nearby)
will be required.
