Below are all of jb38's postings, with the most recent are at the bottom of the page.m.whitbrook: You really have to determine whether the problem is with the recording side of the box, or that the signal from the tuner is glitching during the recording, the only way of finding this out being by viewing the programme (via the box) at the same time as its being recorded.
If the latter applies, check the coax is still a tight fit where it enters the "F" connector on the rear of the box, as a less than perfect connection can in some instances only affect one programme, you should also try swapping the two inputs over, as thats a way of checking the port being used on the LNB.
If none of these measures makes any difference, then try resetting the box.
By the way, are you using your own dish?, or are you connected into a communal dish system?

Tony Parsons: Aerials in your area are all seen to be pointing in the direction of the Ilchester Crescent transmitter, and although a p/code terrain check reveals your area as having a clear line of sight with the mast, a reception check using Digital UK's predictor indicates reception of the COM4/6 multiplexes that broadcasts the programmes referred to as only being variable, therefore some other factor such as bias on the mast "might" be coming into the equation, that is apart from the fact of the multiplexes in question transmitting on only 50% of the power of the main PSB muxes. (PSB-200 watts / COM-100 watts)
Have you as yet ascertained if others in your area are also suffering from similar problems with reception? although if they are not, then their aerial systems could well have the edge on yours as far as efficiency is concerned.

Yvette: If, as appearances would suggest, you are connected into a communal aerial system?, then you should check with others who reside in adjoining flats to ascertain if they are also suffering from similar problems with reception, and if they are? contact the landlords agents, as they are entirely responsible for rectifying the problem.

Alan House: You will have to carry out a retune on your TV or box to update the programme guide, as Sky news on Freeview recently changed from 82 up to 132.

motty: If your card is to enable you to view subscription channels associated with a Sky package, plus being able to record / playback same, you will have to notify Sky of the change of box.
The reason for this being, that the serial number of your present box will be programmed into your card as a security measure in order to stop you passing (selling) the card onto someone else, needless to say, this will stop you using it in your new box.
By the way, if your dish is defective in any way whatsoever it will "not" result in a weak picture, but one that constantly breaks up. What you have reported is more inclined to indicate a bad connection between the box and your TV, or that the box is indeed faulty.
That said does not apply if you are not a Sky subscriber, as free channels do not require a card to view them, the purpose of the card purely being to enable you to view news services appropriate to the area you reside in.

Valerie: As far as I can gather, UCB is only available on line, this being why Sky EPG channel 584 is no longer listed in the programme guide.

Jayne Every: If your Sky+ box is of the Sky+HD variety? then connect the box into your TV's HDMI input socket using an appropriate jumper lead. If though it isn't an HD box, then you should purchase a scart connector box such as the Bush 4 input / 1 output type with individual switching as seen on page 562 in the latest Argos book, item number 107/8701 @ £12.99.
It would of assistance to know the model number of the TV in question, also the model number of hard drive DVD recorder. The other aspect I was wondering about being the purpose of the DVD recorder? when the Sky box already has recording facilities, i.e: maybe not a Sky subscriber?

salma: Unfortunately not very much! that is apart from having the dish repositioned on another part of your property that possibly does have an unobstructed view of the S/S Eastern view of the skyline.

Lee Davison: If your TV/ box offers an option of manual tuning, try carrying out a manual scan on Divis's COM7 HD transmitter on C33, as the TX might have either been down or running on reduced power during your last attempt at retuning.

Dave Lindsay : Yes, quite correct, I forgot all about L-OFD's change to C29 (538.0Mhz). Although P.Castle must have "originally" received a signal of sorts from Oxford, otherwise LCN8 would not have been seen.
