Lisa: If you are using two standard Sky boxes then the two leads coming from the dish is perfectly sufficient, as each box only requires one feed. You should try swapping the two boxes over and see if the problem also swaps positions, because if it does the box is defective, if though it doesnt, then this indicates a problem with that connection, such as water having entered the "F" connector on the LNB on the end of the dish arm, or the cable being damaged somewhere, or if neither it could be a faulty outlet port on the LNB.

Bob F: Basically because coverage maps or reception predictors cannot by their very nature be 100% accurate, nor indeed can any prediction involving terrestrial RF signals as so many variables apply, and with in your particular case indications being that you are on the doorstep of a so called dead spot for reception, the terrain indicator revealing a rather large line-of-sight blockage to the signal path between Mendip and you whereby any signal received is via diffraction (signal bending), this generally resulting in reception being vulnerable to changes in atmospheric conditions at certain times of the year, or even weather related conditions that affect the surface of the terrain, a frequent reason for random picture glitching cropping up now and again for no apparent reason.

Or to put it another way, the only prediction that can ever be 100% accurate is in cases where cable is used to supply the signal to a household.

Tate: This problem is apparently widespread and only affects their Freeview transmissions, as the programme information is broadcast as normal on True Entertainments equivalent channel on Freesat 142.

I have been in touch with them about this, and am waiting on them getting back to me, likewise when / if they do I will post their reply.

M. Roberts: If you are having problems with the EPG listings , that is excluding the issue concerning the True Entertainment channel which is not caused by a fault on the box, try disconnecting your box from the mains supply then waiting approximately 30 seconds or so before reconnecting it again.

The alternative, and better way, being to carry out a "manufacturers reset" on the box, this also known on some brands as "default setting" / "first time installation" or some similar sounding name.

Irene: If you have followed the advice given to M.Roberts? then it wont make any difference to what you are referring to, as that said was concerning a glitch having occurred within the box, whereas no EPG info on the True Entertainment channel (EPG61) is down to a broadcasting problem, cause unknown as yet.

patricia: The aerial connection from your wall socket goes into the YouView box first, then another jumper lead is connected from the YouView boxes aerial "out" socket into the TV.

What brand of YouView box are you using?

mazbar: Re: the issue concerning COM7, I suspect that the problem referred to is concerned with reception in the Settle area.

Lisa: Yes, but it will only act like a standard box, as the recording and playback side of the box is inoperative unless a subscription is in force, Sky having cancelled the codes necessary for that side of the box to operate.

The other point being, that you only require one of the two leads from the dish to be connected into the LNB1 input, as LNB2 is mainly used for recording, which of course you are unable to do. Also, and although not really being necessary, but its advisable to got into the boxes set up menu concerned with the LNB and select "single input operation" as this on most boxes stops the error 29 warning from appearing.

H J Hill : Although many others may well have reported a similar problem to yourself with regards to experiencing intermittent signal drop outs on Winter Hills COM7 transmitter, the fact of them residing in other areas is not necessarily always the best way of proving a point, as other factors of misleading nature can apply applicable to their particular locality.

However, much as I doubt if your installation is in any way to blame, a way of positively determining whether it is or not is simply by making one or two local enquiries, much as I fully appreciate that many people are loathe about having to resort to this, and of course sometimes with good reason!.

But though, should the result of any local enquiry reveal that others in your immediate area are also experiencing difficulties with reception from COM7, then your installation is instantly out of the equation as far as any suspicion of a slightly over the top signal is concerned, as it would be an immense coincidence for this type of thing to affect two separate installations, this to the extent that it can safely by taken as something that doesn't happen.

MikeP: Yes, thanks for that, I suspected that this might / could apply with the device Patricia is using, likewise why I requested info on the brand model.
