However there is another possible reason for the problem concerning the transmission mode used by Oxford over that of Hannington, so maybe you could give an update on the exact model of box you are referring to, this enabling a check to be made.

Andrew: This is not something that Panasonics are known for, and so if you have verified that no-one has pressed the TV button on the remote and maybe knocked it onto analogue, and if you have also checked that its aerial input lead is still firmly seated, then I would try giving the set a complete re-scan.
It would have been assistance though to have known the model number of the TV involved.

Miked: I think it would be prudent to make enquiries with your neighbours to find out if they can receive anything, as the trade predictor does not indicate Freeview reception being possible at the post code given until May 2012, only analogue until then.

Dave: If I could add to Steve P's link, if you copy and paste in this link also it will give you an idea of the situation, because as you will see you are only forecast to obtain reliable reception from Sudbury (@ 31mls/14 degrees) or Rouncefall (@ 5mls/59 degrees) both these stations operating on the same frequency.(SFN)
As far as Crystal Palace is concerned only BBC1 is shown as good, the remainder being variable.
I am not sure what you mean by "standard" (re: No2) when referring to the aerial, but after DSO although a wideband aerial will work perfectly OK, if though you want that little bit extra gain then go for a group A aerial, this covering (and more) the DSO channel span of 22-30.
Crystal Palace going from its present level of 20Kw (10Kw HD) up to a massive 200Kw.

teresa: Yes, but it will only work like a normal Sky box, insomuch that the recorder side of it will be inoperative unless you pay Sky an additional monthly charge.

Spartan: Well if you managed that result on ITV (Ch23) from CP's 1000Kw analogue transmitter at your previous OX13 location (@ 57 mls) then in theory its possible that a reasonable signal could possibly be obtained when Crystal Palace goes up from 20Kw to 200Kw at DSO.
Of course, glitches etc in the signal which are very likely to happen over these distances are never really noticed so much on analogue reception, whereas they certainly will be with digital an its "cliff effect", so this always has to be taken into account.
The other aspect being, that although you achieved that from OX13, Omar may not dependant on his location, this not having been given at any time.

Nigel Yates: These are Freeview light (3 Mux PSB only) stations simply because the other 3 multiplexes would be commercial only enterprises, and with the commercial interests not being willing to pay the running costs of the extra multiplexes, basically because when they take into account the coverage area / households covered the level of return they would be liable to make would not justify the cost.
This situation applies in lots of smaller areas.

Keith: Lots of LCD TV's have two scart sockets, it depends on the price range looked at. However you can still achieve what you require by connecting the Sky boxes AV1 into the TV's scart socket, then you connect the Freeview boxes AV1 into the Sky boxes AV2 (which might be called VCR)
In operation you can watch Sky if the Freeview box is in standby, but when its taken out of stand by it should over ride the Sky box and feed Freeview through to the TV, if it doesn't then just put the Sky box in standby.
If though you have any problem with this arrangement, something which can happen in some cases dependant on the Freeview boxes circuitry, you can still do what you want if you purchase a simple two way scart switch box, its common lead going into the TV's scart, and with the Freeview AV1 going to one input on the splitter / combiner and Sky boxes AV1 to the 2nd input, you simply switching between the two as required.
You could test this out on your old CRT set by just using its AV1 socket.

seanw: You should check out the signal strength / quality indications seen by pressing "services - 4 - 6", both S/Q should be roughly level at about 75% of the way along, as although the box is possibly faulty what you report is in most cases caused by the dish out of alignment.

Shy: Without knowledge of your post code nor anything about the aerial system being used its really quite impossible to offer any advice, as some areas around you could be classed as difficult for reception.
Your post code would have enabled your reception possibilities to be checked on, that is as well as whether or not any alternative transmitters are within range.
