paul: Thanks for the update and pleased to hear you were successful, I hadn't actually realised that you had made a reply as I was viewing on a different PC and the screen hadn't updated, this being the reason for my further suggestions.

Trev: Yes, in theory you can, as if there are only two leads in the loft and one is from the aerial, then that indicates that the wall plates are just linked together in the actual house with a single connection from one going into the loft.
This means that if you couple the Sky boxes RF "output" into a wall plate in the living room the signal should pass through to the other similar one in the kitchen where the signal can then feed into the TV in a normal fashion.
If though you are aware of separate leads from the house going into the loft then just link them together.

AD: As Dave Linsay has explained everything it enables me to somewhat shorten my reply, insomuch that all I would like to add is that on checking DRG's trade view reception predictor using the info provided still indicates Crystal Palace as your main source of a signal, as although its located at 10 miles away with Reigate only being 5, Crystal Palace is on 20Kw compared to Reigate's 200w.
As far as HD is concerned, many have problems picking up HD from Crystal Palace as it temporarily transmits on even lower power than BBC1, namely 10Kw, plus it prone to occasional interference from Sandy's SDN mux as its on the same frequency.
Maybe though you could mention the model number of the TV you are using, this to enable its spec to be checked.

paul: Well these type of things are fraught with problems ready to catch out the unwary, although I do have an advantage insomuch that as well as being an long term engineer in dealing with RF equipments I actually have two of these Humax boxes myself.
Anyway pleased you are sorted out now

Allan: What model of Sky+ HD box do you have? as there is two types in use so look at the plate on its underside, but I would suggest that you unplug it from the power supply for a few minutes before powering it up again and letting it go through the usual procedure of searching for listings, that is if Sky hasn't advised you to do that already.

Steve: I don't really see you have any option other than running another cable from the loft aerial into the bedroom, as the Sky connections aren't really of any use for Freeview purposes.
Whether or not you will get satisfactory results by just splitting the loft aerial two ways without using a two way powered splitter isn't really known, that is without a post code being provided for purposes of being able to check the signal strengths expected at your location, however this can be added at a later date should they prove unsatisfactory in any way, like picture glitching that didn't happen before.

James: When BBC2 appears then goes off again leave it on that channel go into the TV's tuning menu / signal check screen and see what's shown strength wise and the Mux channel number you see associated with the reading, as its important to know if the channel is dropping out completely or that its just dipping under the reception threshold whereby it cant resolve a picture.
Maybe you could also mention the model of JVC you are referring to, and it would also be of assistance to know your location (pref: post code) for purposes of signal checking.

robert: What model of Panasonic TV do you have? and are you meaning that you use a Sky box for "free to view" channels?

Janne: If your CRT television has a scart socket on the rear then any in the range of Freeview boxes you will see advertised in places like Argos or in your local stores will be suffice for your needs, as all you require to do is couple the box into your TV using a scart lead.
If though your TV doesn't have a scart socket then you will require a Freeview box that has an RF modulator in it, this to enable the box to feed its signal into the TV's aerial socket rather than via a scart lead.
That said, your location of being not too far away from Leith should receive a good signal from the Fife transmitter called Craigkelly, you might even see it sitting high on the hill if you look across the water, as from its location you can see all of your area quite clearly.
Needless to say you will require a suitable aerial for the Freeview box, nothing too elaborate or you might suffer the effects of signal overloading, as indeed a number of people have done in the Leith area when the transmitter went over to high power operation.
Have a check with your neighbours with regards to what their aerial arrangements are.

paul: What to do is go into the 9200's menu / preferences and you will see "UHF set up" mentioned with a channel number being displayed, just set it to 68 and its well out of the road.
That said though, if it was seen on the default Ch36 it should not have caused you any trouble "if" indeed you are tuned to Walthams BBC as its on Ch61.
Whilst you are in the tuning menu also go into "installation" and make sure that "antenna power" is switched off.
If by any chance this makes no difference then there has to be some other odd fault in existence, so should BBC vanish when the Humax is switched on take out the in / out link on the Humax and connect the cables together, in other words by-pass the Humax even although it will still be connected via the scart lead to the TV.
