Roy Packham: If you have tested the Panasonic box on the feeds from the dish that works perfectly OK on the Foxsat, then it would certainly appear the the Panasonic has failed.

Try leaving it disconnected from the mains power supply for an hour to let it completely cool down before powering it up again, although what you have said strongly suggests that its power supply has failed.

Paul Jones: Yes, please try that test, as its beginning to appear that the entire cause of your problem is simply because your TV is receiving a level of signal that's not that terribly much above the minimum that's necessary for TV's circuitry to resolve a picture, and why anything that causes even the slightest drop in the signal results in it dipping under the reception threshold hence a blank screen, the proof of this being that should you carry out a signal strength check on BBC whilst the screen is blank you are still likely see the signal level being indicated but just at a level lower than before.

That said though, I cannot see any reason why the BBC signal should continually be less than that from the ITV transmitter, and yet it must be, and that suggests that your aerial isnt best positioned as far as balancing the signal is concerned.

Pat: If indeed it is the DTR230 they have supplied then thats a bit of a mystery as after you highlight "restore factory settings" which is the bottom choice under "Box Settings" the warning message that comes on should state "This will reset current settings and clear the channel lists" and with "Restore factory settings?" under this, you selecting "YES" via the arrow key then pressing OK, the box then rebooting and switching off for a few seconds before coming back on again.

If you still cant get it to respond properly disconnect it from the mains supply for a minute or so before having another attempt.

carl: You are only 4 miles away from the massively high powered BBC transmitter, so if you have access to a non-amplified type of set top aerial plug that in and carry out another manual tune on Ch23, or should you not be able to obtain one, try a short piece of copper wire of about 8 or 12" or so carefully pushed into the middle part of the aerial socket, because this will provide a suitably reduced level of signal for a test. Pete: This is a known issue with this model and which was supposedly rectified with an over-air download, but though you should be aware that this model is extremely sensitive to the signal level received, and which should ideally be between 70-80% as the problem experienced can be triggered even if just under 70%, and at the top end with variations of the problem being witnessed if over, so have a look at the strength being received.

You might already know this, but the signal strength screen is accessed by pressing: Menu / Set up / Diagnostics.

That said, I would suggest that you wait until after the 18th before doing anything, as work is taking place all the time, but should you find that the signal levels presently seen on BBC are within the figure stated then you should have a word with LG support regarding the software issue, as unfortunately I don't really have knowledge of what the latest figure should be.

Q: Basically yes! as these type of sockets are generally used in installations in flats or whatever where if any device connected into the socket developed the type of fault whereby the chassis became live the voltage would be blocked from passing along the coax back to the distribution amplifier, or even just into another flat should the coax be linked from one socket to the other.

So if the aerial system is dedicated to only your own residence then go ahead and change th

Brenda Singfield: If your Freesat box is working OK at that location with the dish thats installed, then if you change the LNB to either a dual or a quad block and run an extra cable from the LNB then your Sky+ box will work OK the way you want but "only" if you are keeping the subscription running, as if not Sky will disable the recording side of the box and this includes play back of anything previously recorded.

By the way I only mentioned a quad LNB as not only are they only fractionally more expensive than a dual, but its handy to have two spare outlets should at any time you wish to add a Freesat dual channel PVR or similar.
