Below are all of jb38's postings, with the most recent are at the bottom of the page.Paul: If you have double checked that the "F" connectors on the original cable are still OK, then your problem is likely to have been caused by dish having moved slightly whilst you were working on the LNB, as the movement necessary to kill the signal is so fractional that it cant even be noticed by a trained eye.
If you can access the dish whilst viewing the TV screen, leaving it sitting on the signal warning screen then slowly press the left hand edge of the dish watching for any signs of the message breaking up, which it would do on the detection of a signal, if nothing is seen then carry out this action on the other edge of the dish, as when dish alignment is disturbed its usually in the left / right horizontal plane.

David Garside: I noticed that guide list number 117 is listed for a number of different locations indicating that it will be region / post code dedicated, however so long as its not going to be in the category of being one of Sky's package channels whereby encrypted, the data concerning the transponder / frequency etc used will be listed on one of the Satellite info sites, likewise when it is, I will give you an update on this.

Briantist : Many thanks for this info, as I wasn't aware of this fact. Although I suppose that by Sky having knowledge that Freesat was out of the equation as far as anyone being able to view this channel outside of the Freeview coverage area, that they in effect held the trump card, likewise took measures to safeguard it by encrypting the channel thereby foiling anyone attempting to bypass it by using the add channels facility, such as suggested by David G.

edwin jones : The aerial loop through facility on some PVR's (recorder) models will be blocked if during the set up procedure "eco mode" (or similar meaning term) has been selected, as in this mode the power supply to the aerial loop through circuit is switched off.
Should your device (model unknown) have been set up in this way? then switch this mode off.
However, irrespective of whether or not your recorder has this setting, the loop though connection on most devices will be blocked if the device is completely switched off from the mains.

R.Porteous: Basically nothing has changed as far as the transmission side of the equation is concerned, but though, as the line of sight from Ellon (dependant on exact location) to the Durris transmitter is seen to be obstructed in two separate places, i.e: at approximately 3 & 7 miles, then changes to atmospheric conditions as well as to the surface of the terrain can cause signal levels to change with reception in this type of situation, and it "might" just be that yours has dropped to under that necessary to resolve a picture.
Go into your TV's tuning menu and select manual tune then enter Durris's BBC1 Ch28 but stop at this point, because on most devices if any signal is being received (no matter how low) the strength / quality level of the signal will be shown.
By the way, if both of your aerials operate completely independently of each other? then this in effect excludes the possibility of your installation being defective.

Fiona: Advice on the possible reasons for a problem of this nature can only be given when a persons location is known, this in the form of a post code or one from nearby such as a shop / Post Office, as this info would enable access to information on the transmitters that cover the area in question.

Bill Marshall: The question has to be, have you tried another set of batteries in the remote control? if you have and the situation remained the same, then try lifting the end of one of the batteries and press any button, reseating the battery on completion.
If this action fails to rectify the situation, then either the IR sender in the remote control is defective, or its the IR pick up device in the receiver.
You can carry out a partial test of the sender by pointing it at the lens on a digital camera, because if the sender is working a white blob will appear on the digital cameras LCD screen
That said, this test only reveals if the IR side of the sender is working, "not" the actual control code transmitted by the sender.

M Bevan: A quick scout around the rooftops in your area did not reveal any particular level of aerial sophistication being used for reception from Pontop Pike, and with a terrain check on the signal path between PP and your location indicating a clear line-of-sight, albeit that the signal is seen to skirt over a couple of sizeable obstructions at a relatively low angle.
This coupled to the fact of Pontop Pike being located at just over 10 miles away would not justify an aerial of the type suggested (by yourself) being necessary, and indeed an aerial known as a Log36 would be perfectly adequate for applications such as yours. (As illustrated on the link below)
The other point I wondered about being, when you said that you had difficulty tuning BBC & ITV channels, are you purely referring to having possibly picked these channels from either Bilsdale (BBC / C26 - ITV / C29) or Fenham (BBC / 27) - (ITV / C24) ?
As MikeB has said, if you are receiving CBBC HD (PSB3) then your TV must be fitted with an HD (DVB-T2) tuner, but though, maybe you could indicate the model number of the TV in question.?

bill marshall: Thanks for the update, although I would appreciate if you could give another after you have tried what Philex has suggested, as although a factory reset is undeniably the best procedure to use in cases where some odd type of problem has occurred, its usually always associated with that of reception or guide number listings, as I cant recall that its ever rectified one connected with the non operation of a remote control.
And to qualify on this, that is "if" you were unable to switch the box off or on or alternatively access the menu? and not just confined to not being able to change a channel. Still you never know!!
By the way, the battery procedure I mentioned is the method used to rectify any possible lock up that may have occurred within the remote controls circuitry, as although its not exactly a frequently experienced problem it can happen on some controls.

B M Laurence: In order to determine if the newly installed mast is connected in any way with 4G transmissions or not, you should contact the undermentioned number, as those people have up to date information on 4G installations.
That said, did you receive a "free" 4G filter thought the post? as AT800 sends them out to any address that's liable to be affected by a 4G transmission.
Its best to have this matter cleared up before taking any other action, as the timing of the difficulty you are experiencing might purely be coincidental.
