Francis: Put simply, if the cable that you refer to comes from the NTL box then you cannot use a Freeview box with it because it doesnt go to a normal aerial, and as Dave Lindsay has said, "if" you are having a Talk Talk You View box installed then its basically a special internet version of a Freeview box but which still requires a normal aerial.

Bob: With reference to your query, are the problems referred to mainly concerning the reception of the BBC channels and possibly the mux transmitter used by such as Pick TV / Sky news etc? the reason for asking being that quite a number have complained about reception of these channels since the frequency was changed.

Me: In answer to your 28th @ 1:50PM query, yes! as the box is only able to show what has been previously stored in its tuners memory, and with this applying no matter how strong an alternative signal might be.
Re your 1.52PM query, it depends entirely on the TV / box in question, because in some brands the tuners memory will be instantly wiped clean as soon as "search" or "scan" is pressed during an auto-tune, whereas on others there will always be an element of retention of the channels previously stored, this being why a "factory reset" / "default setting" / "reinstall all services" or first time installation" is always advisable, the terms referred to being that used by different brands albeit in reality all meaning the same thing.

roger: If only the BBC channels are being affected then carry out a signal check whilst on the BBC and make a note of the mux channel being indicated as BBC from Brierley Hill is on mux Ch60, if though mux Ch43 is indicated then your TV / box has stored the BBC from Sutton Coldfield.

Jonathan Evans-Baldwin : It should also be noted that another person (Matthew Perkins) has also complained of zero reception from the Chagford transmitter on a posting made at 10.40PM yesterday, but as nothing as yet has been posted on the engineering pages this could suggest that problem might be with the mains power supply to the station rather than an actual transmitter fault as such.

Peterpiano: I dont quite understand where passwords come into the equation, as satellite boxes whether Freesat or Sky do not have such a thing, although Freesat boxes do require a post code to be entered during the initial set up procedure or after any subsequent resetting of the box, although the post code is only required to enable the viewer to have the correct regional news services.
Does your dish face into a tree or any other building or structure? because thats about the only thing that can cause problems with satellite reception other than the dish being misaligned.

Peterpiano: On having a rethink about your question regarding passwords, and although Freesat boxes generally do not request this I do appreciate that whatever you are using must request it be entered otherwise you wouldn't ask, and so should this apply then I would try the standard default of 0000 or 1234, although if either of these do not work then there is always the possibility that your installer has changed it, that is should the box allow this to be done, but though if you can provide the model numbers of the models involved this can be checked.

steve: Being acquaint with the area that you are referring to I would not hesitate in recommending the DM Log as seen on the link, these being perfect for a multitude of applications whether it be for a caravan, boat or even just household use.
