Kim Smart: To add to that said by Dave Lindsay, Film 4 is still using LCN15 but is now being broadcast from the ITV1 transmitter hence why nothing is being received as your programme guide has not been updated to accommodate this change.

Try carrying out a "first time installation" before making another attempt at retuning, "factory reset" or "default settings" being other terms used depending on the brand of equipment.

Brian: Carry out a "factory reset" on your TV / box prior to a second auto-tune, factory reset sometimes called "default settings" / "first time installation" etc dependant on brand.

The reason for the retune message being that Film 4 has moved onto PSB2 the ITV1 multiplex and the programme guide requires up dating to accommodate this change.

chriselda: Most of the aerials seen in your area are vertically mounted therefore indicating that the Charmouth PSB only transmitter @ 0.5 miles is the one used in your area, and although Stockland Hill is indicated as being possible the predictions given for reception from this station only indicate good on the BBC & ITV multiplex, the other four muxes indicating a rather low level of variable.

Although reception predictions can have a large margin of error they cannot be completely dismissed, and so I suggest that you have a look up at the aerial to see if its still mounted vertically, that is with the elements pointing up and downwards, and if it is then carry out another reset or "first time installation" followed by an auto-tune and see what results you get.

It would also be of assistance if you indicated the model number of TV or box you are using.

Brian Stanley: Go into your Humax boxes menu system and then in the: settings - system - power management switch off the "power saving in standby" feature, as when "on" is selected that kills the loop through signal to whatever is connected into the boxes RF output socket.

shaun: I was of the belief that the only place in the UK that analogue was still operational via cable was Milton Keynes.

Should you reside in this area and are still able to use the analogue system then its not a Freeview PVR type recorder you require but a Freeview HDD recorder.

The difference being that a Freeview PVR can only record from its inbuilt tuners and not from any external devices connected to it, as any sockets seen on these devices are for "output only" purposes.

On the other hand Freeview HDD recorders are much more versatile devices by being able to record from not only their inbuilt tuners but also from an external sources, this including analogue devices connected via a scart lead into the recorders EXT1 or 2 inputs such as applies in the case of your analogue box.

chriselda: Thanks for the confirmation re aerial mounting, I did suspect that it would be mounted this way and facing towards the local Charmouth transmitter as a terrain check from Stockland Hill had indicated the signal path as being severely obstructed starting from just under 4 miles away and right up to nearly 0.5 miles of your location.

However as far as not being able to receive anything other than the BBC programmes are concerned, when taking into consideration all that you have already tried prior to posting a query, which on the face of it anyway would suggest that you used the correct procedure, then I cant really see any way forward except by making a local enquiry with a neighbour purely to find out whether or not they are "presently" able to view ITV1, the reason for saying this being just in case there are any problems with the ITV transmitter as TX fault reporting sites would not indicate this, these only giving info on BBC transmitters.

As far as the TV's model number is concerned, I realise that it might be a bit inconvenient to try and gain access to the rear of the set, but using one of LG's manuals for reference purposes could you verify (or not) that when you say entering Ch44 results in a "no signal" message this is when using the : set up - select manual tuning - select DTV - select desired channel number procedure?

Another thing to try is to go into "set up" and select "diagnostics", this being where the only channel listed should be the BBC on Ch47 (indicated under the "engineering diagnostics" heading) then whilst keeping an eye on the indicator bar wiggle the jumper lead that goes into the TV's aerial socket just to ensure that your problem is not being caused by a faulty connector.

Mike Robins: Although Ridge Hill is indicated as being the station that covers your area it would appear that the lounge TV has picked up the signal from one of the other transmitters, therefore to take the guesswork out of the equation as more than one transmitter is listed, select the 800 channel that the news service required is on and carry out a signal level check for the purpose of noting the mux channel number associated with the signal level reading, this then revealing the station that the service is being broadcast from.

ITV1 Ridge Hill C25 / Malvern C57 / Sutton Coldfield C46 / The Wrekin C23.

The aspect that rather puzzles me though is that you have two TV's with ITV news services taking up an 800 position, and as 800 is always used by duplicate channel listings then what news service do you have in programme guide No3 position?

christy condron: Provided that the 100cm dish had a standard 40mm LNB mounting clamp and which had not been altered (bent) in any way then there is no reason why the ex-Sky dishes quad LNB should not work.

That said, these large dishes are very critical to align and especially so for anyone who is not acquaint at this sort of thing, (meter or not!) also are you sure that the dish in question was not previously being used for reception at 19.2 degrees rather than 28.2?

Its also assumed that you did use more than one port for testing? as Murphy's law usually dictates that out of the four ports thats available a person will choose the defective one to use for tests.

Bronislaw: Film4 is now being broadcast on the PSB2 multiplex used by STV, have you carried out a retune in the last few days? as that action is required to update the programme guide.

Although it should not be strictly necessary to do this, but if you have any problems with receiving (15) Film4 then carry out a "first time installation" or "factory reset".

W.J.Roberts: Undermentioned is the phone number to contact at800, they will advise as to whether or not you are likely to be affected by the 4G signal as they have all the info on the location of the proposed transmitters, and if by any chance you are liable to be affected then they will send you a filter free of charge.
