David Craig: Film4 is broadcast from the same multiplex transmitter as used by ITV1, and so if your older TV's set up menu is seen to offer "first time installation" then use this before carrying out another auto-tune, this facility also being referred to as "factory reset" / "default setting" or some similar sounding term.
Should you experience any problems with the older TV's tuning menu then please provide the model number of the set in question, but though if it receives ITV1 OK then it should receive Film4.

dawn pascoe: If when you say "indoor aerial" you are actually referring to an aerial in the same room as the TV then as MikeB has said these type of aerials are very seldom ever satisfactory, however if indeed you are referring to a same room aerial then the signal strength mentioned is an indication that you must be receiving a reasonably good signal and as such the aerial seen in the undermentioned link would be perfect for your situation, this type of aerial being the latest updated version of an excellent aerial known as a Log 40 as its been redesigned to minimise any possible effects from a 4G transmitter that may have been installed in the area.
As far as wind turbines are concerned, if these are already in operation then you can test for yourself if they are causing you any problems, this done by first of all making sure that they are actually turning and then observing the strength, and more importantly the quality of the signal being received for any regular pulsing effects, in the interests of accuracy this test being carried out in both low as well as high winds as this eliminates the possibility that strobing effects might suddenly occur.

dawn pascoe: In addition to that said, as this type of aerial is only around 4' 2" long its lends itself to be easily mounted in virtually any location such as on the roof or the fascia of a building (generally being known as a gutter mount), a flat surface or even in a loft, albeit that in this latter case qualifications apply.

Tracy: If you are using a standard Sky box (or white Sky+ type) then press "services - 4 - 6" and see if anything is being indicated in the strength / quality bars, if anything is being indicated then both readings have to be around a minimum of 50% or so to resolve a picture, should the indications be under the aforementioned levels or the quality is seen to be lagging the strength then that can indicate that your dish has moved slightly out of alignment, if though nothing is indicated then although it could still be the dish it could on the other hand be caused by the box having developed a fault, and especially so if its of the older variety as these types are prone to developing power supply problems.
Another possible reason for the problem could be due to water having gained access to the "F" connector on the end of the coax that screws into the dishes LNB, this having to be unscrewed for the purpose of checking it out.
That said, if you are on friendly terms with a neighbour or whoever who also uses a Sky set up, then you could shorten the process of fault finding if you managed to try your box out on their dish connection.

Helen Williamson: Yes, as "some" installers are inclined to take the easy option with regards to where they mount the dish irrespective of whether or not the easy to mount position might be vertically infringing into someone else's territory.
That said, if the overhang only involves a few inches or so then in the interests of peaceful living I would be inclined to grudgingly leave it, however if on the other hand say 2/3rds of the dish area was involved then at the first opportunity I would be inclined to tactfully mention to the neighbour what the installer has done, because if you do not, then rightly or wrongly, its generally assumed by the other party that you accept what has been done and an assumption which might cause future problems.

Maggie: I suspected that this might be the case, the problem with your same room aerial being that the signal from Winter Hill is being received from the right hand side of your location, i.e: from where Arnside Road joins the main B5143 meaning that the properties directly on your the right are blocking the signal.
This being the case, then about only one thing that you could try is to once again carry out the manual tune signal test exactly as before entering BBC mux on Ch50 then whilst observing the strength / quality and move the aerial around to try and get a position where the quality exceeds the strength, because as it presently stands its the reverse of what is required.
If you do manage to obtain a good position then scan the channel storing the results, once completed then use exactly the same procedure except this time enter Ch59 (ITV1) scanning same and likewise storing the results.
These are really the main channels that will provide you with the regional news services you require, the other muxes not being and are : Ch58 (ITV3) - Ch49 (Pick TV etc) - Ch55 (4 Music etc) and picked up by using the same manual tuning procedure as before, unless that is your TV offers an update channel list facility, but caution! on some sets this facility acts like an auto-tune whereby possibly replacing the BBC and ITV mux you have already stored with the Welsh channels from Moel-Y-Parc transmitter.
If though those measures are not successful then unfortunately you do not really have any option but to have an outside (or loft) aerial installed.

Irene: This channel only operates on a part time basis on Freeview between the hours of 08.00 and 13.00 hrs albeit that it is available 24/7 via its on-line service, this being the reason for the caption reminding potential viewers to make sure that their TV's are connected into the internet.

Carol: Although its possible to get an error 29 warning when a box has developed a fault, especially if its of the older variety!, but it can also be caused by the dish having moved out of alignment.
Another thing that can cause this warning to appear, which by the way just means no signal, is if the connector on the end of the coax cable that screws onto the dishes LNB has got waterlogged, and so if this is easily accessible then it wouldn't do any harm to unscrew it and check it out.
That said, should you be on friendly terms with any of your neighbours who are also Sky (or Freesat) users then if at all possible it would save a you a lot of bother if you can manage to check your box out on their dish system, or alternatively theirs on yours, as this will pinpoint the source of the problem.

steve: Does the downstairs TV pick up all of the other programme channels? and what method are you using to split the aerial between the two sets?
A way to check if you are receiving all six mux channels from a full service station is to select the following EPG numbers one at a time, if any fails then that indicates the one of the mux transmitters is not being received.
1 - 3 - 10 - 11 - 18 + any HD channel should your TV be capable of receiving HD transmissions.
