Pat : Re MikeB's reply, I feel that this was really intended as a reply to Andre Walkers query made at 4:00 pm.

On the subject of the Telecam, if you are referring to the TCE2000 then this being based on a log periodic design is an excellent little device but of course with limitations, however if, as I unfortunately expect, that reception is still affected by movement within the room then this type of aerial out of all same room types should take on a new dimension if "carefully" positioned in the loft, other wise I suggest using either a DM or Log36 as seen on the link.

johnny: Purely out of curiosity is your running with what "was" (as its dated) the latest firmware update of 2.47? as those boxes were notorious for HDMI problems, the firmware number being accessed under "configuration" in the set menu.

You should also try a test by changing the picture resolution settings, these also being under configuration.

5USA
Monday 30 December 2013 9:14PM

W: 5 USA (31) is perfectly OK with me, if this problem has just occurred then try switching the TV or box completely off (at the mains) and then after a short pause back on again.

By the way, 5USA (31) is on the same transmitter as ITV3 (10) / Drama (20) etc.

Keith: Its impossible for anyone to make comment on your problem or offer any advice if they are unaware as to your location albeit it would seem to be in the Sudbury area, the location preferably in the form of a post code or at least one from somewhere nearby, e.g: a shop / Post Office.

Paul: Further to that said, if removing the aerial connection into the Sky box does kill the interference on the RF2's analogue output then change the RF output channel to C35 as this would appear "not" to clash with any Freeview channels you are liable to pick up from not only Emley Moor but also other stations within receiving range.

RF channel changing procedure on a Sky+HD box with the latest menu system.

(1) Press "services" then use the right arrow to navigate away from "Options" to "Settings" and press on same, "Picture" should now be highlighted.

(2) : On the remote control press: "0 - 1 - Select" and the "Set up" tab should be highlighted.

(3) : Use the right arrow button to scroll along the list to "RF out" where pressing on reveals the default settings menu enabling you to change them.

Please ensure that you save any changes made before exiting the menu system.

Steve Swift: No problem! as its an easy mistake to make, and which I dare say others who can also receive it will as well

Showcase 2
Tuesday 31 December 2013 3:23PM

L Turner: If the symptoms described are as the result of the box having been rebooted then I am afraid to say that this does not look too promising, as in virtually 99% of cases rebooting generally clears glitches in the operating system, the fact of it not doing in your particular case suggesting the possibility that the problem is being caused by a circuitry fault rather than one associated with the operating system.

However, I would like if you could clarify on the following point, when you say that the box lights up with Showcase 2 being seen is referring to that seen on the boxes display? and if so have you made sure that the TV's "input select" is set on the input socket you are using to feed the output of the Samsung into?

It would also be of assistance to know the model number of the Samsung in question.

Robert: According to my info its March 2014, although you can expect a period of test transmissions to be taking place before then.

Owen: Although being unaware as to exactly the problem you are referring to its assumed that its connected with EPG problems?, however irrespective of whether or not any have actually been received you should press "menu" then 4 (set up menu) and select "scan for channels" but removing the aerial before doing so.

Prior to carrying the aforementioned out, select "customising your DTR" and on the "TV guide type" set it for 8 day.

By the way, this Ferguson TUTV model appears under a number of guises albeit that they all use the same chassis, and the instructions given are from the Sharp versions manual.

Des Collier: Well yes! although Brigg is located in a slightly more favourable position, but though irrespective of what the reception coverage maps may indicate reception from relatively low powered transmitters at extreme ranges will always be vulnerable to problems associated with changing weather conditions and the effects of same on the surface of the terrain as far as its reflective properties are concerned.

In other words, an element of hit and miss will always be applicable with reception prediction maps where UHF signals are involved.
