m Sim: You could possibly be receiving your TV from two sources, but according to the trade predictor the situation at this present time indicates Sandy (Anglia) as being the best bet.

That said though, in 28th September when switchover stage 2 occurs at Oxford it then appears as the better, this continuing until into 2012 when during the year the lesser channels using Mux's A-C-D are forecast to start tapering off, with this showing into 2013.

Whilst on BBC1, go into your TV or boxes tuning menu / signal check area and observe what the channel number is showing as, if its Ch27 its Sandy Heath (Anglia) but if Ch34 its Oxford.

Alan: I fully agree with what you say about predicted / received levels, as any predictions made involving RF signals in frequency band ranges such as is used by Freeview is open to wide variations for all sorts of reasons, even at relatively short distances.

However as far as Reigate is concerned I wouldn't really know about what you mention, as it "is" listed in both predictors I use, Digital UK's trade predictor being the main one used to assess what's expected signal / quality wise across all the transmitters applicable to a particular post code, and secondly Wolfbane being used purely for its distance measurements and Mux channel number references, as it's notorious for being way-out on some of its other statements.

But as originally mentioned, your question was really in Briantists domain as far as an answer was concerned for that particular question, and it was only because I was interested myself in what you said that I sort of ad-libbed in a fashion by giving the indications that I was getting for the post code concerned.

barry: It would be of great assistance to anyone possibly giving a reply if you indicated your location, as that would enable the status of the transmitter most applicable to your area to be checked.

Kerrie: Assuming that what you are meaning is that the Freeview+ box doesn't pick up as many channels as your Freeview TV, then this is not necessarily an unusual thing to happen, as it all depends on the sensitivity of each of the devices being used, no two ever being the same.

I should say that you are forecast as being possible to receive TV from two sources, Sutton Coldfield and Waltham, although Waltham by far having the edge on the other.

Another thing that can also apply is the aerial arrangement used to feed the devices, as looping in-out will reduce the signal to the last item in the chain, so the use of a two way powered splitter is always the best way to split a signal, as each set then gets the same signal.

This only being mentioned in case it applied, but you should give the Freeview + box another scan as it will only store what was receivable at that particular time, any glitches that may have occurred at the time stored as such, Freeview not updating the situation.

Indoor aerials | Installing

Barry: Reception as one would expect can be very iffy up in these areas, however if you are spending time in Gairloch itself then all you need to receive the local Badachro transmitter is a standard log periodic aerial, as indeed is used by many caravan & camper vans, with the signal from the aforementioned transmitter blasting in according to the trade predictor based on the local Post Office.

Matter of fact space permitting, you could even take a simple set top aerial and still get satisfactory results, but the aerial mentioned was suggested as its suitable for covering various situations.

Brian Gregory: The code referred to indicates that at this present time the reception from Rowridge should be reasonably good, although not sparkling on Mux1 (Ch24) and with no HD reception being available.

This is forecast to continue until March 2012 when the situation with Mux1 (BBC A) improves reception wise, but its not until further changes take place on April 18th 2012 that all six Mux's should be receivable.

john: If by plugging the cable you say is coming from the loft into the Sky boxes RF2 output socket and this action results in Sky being available in other rooms, then that must be the feed to the other TV's, this also meaning that the TV's in the other rooms must be set on "analogue", as that's what the signal mode is from the Sky boxes modulator.

The only thing missing is where you have the standard aerial fed into? as the normal way of doing things is for it to be connected into the Sky boxes aerial input socket, the digital signal then passing through the Sky box and being joined by the analogue one from the Sky boxes modulator, then both signal modes going onto the sets in the other rooms via your 2 way powered (?) splitter.

If you have already had this working before you moved the equipment then nothing else would need altered, other wise I would had said to check that your Sky boxes modulator isn't clashing with one of the Freeview channels, not being able to advise channel wise as you haven't mentioned your location.

Don't forget to change the other TV's over to their digital mode when scanning!

james cobby: If you are referring to the transmitter on the heading of this page "Kingskerswell" then they are listed at the bottom of each of the three Mux's involved.

However, just in case you cannot see that for any reason, if you are viewing a EPG channel (any!) and want to know the frequency it is on, go into the devices tuning menu "whilst on that channel", and in the signal check / condition area of the tuning menu you will see the details you want displayed.

brian farren: It would be somewhat easier to give an exact answer to your question if you had mentioned the brand / model of Top Up TV box that you have.

Also, whether or not the TV being used has more than one scart socket?
