I can receive the MEN multiplex in South Manchester - just 2 channels - Channel M and a text-dating service.

Channel M was ok-ish until it scaled back its production about 18 months ago, but since then it just broadcasts old programmes or the channel Euronews. These days, it's not worth watching.

When it first launched, there were also two shopping channels, but they closed quickly.

If Manchester as a large metropolitan city can't find a market for local TV service, then I really doubt that this is going to be a viable idea.

For viewers in the Manchester area receiving the MEN multiplex, there is now a new channel "Movies4Men" on LCN 201.

The MEN multiplex in the Manchester area is no longer broadcasting the men's movie channels. There was a place holder, but even they seem to have gone now. (53.4243,-2.3179)

Does anyone know if the GIM (formerly MEN) multiplex from Winter Hill is still transmitting. I've not been able to receive it the past few days. It was fine until about Christmas.

Thanks.

Yes, the Manchester Mux came back on sometime on Friday.
The film channels on there sometimes have something worth watching.
I guess we'll never know why it's been off-air - probably someone forgot to pay the bill!

Hello, is the GIM multiplex on channel 57 still broadcasting?

I moved house about 2 months ago and finally got my aerial installed today, but no sign of Ch.57 mux.

My location is 53.597519,-2.443126 with a very clear line of site of the transmitter about 6km away on a bearing of 304 degrees.

Hi jb38, thank you for the reply.

I've done a manual tune on all Freeview devices I have, but no sign of any signal on Ch57.

I had a look at the Ofcom document (http://stakeholders.ofcom.org.uk/binaries/consultations/notice524/im.pdf) - page 27 (numbered as Page 22) shows that I am in the high signal area.

It's very strange. I can only conclude I am in a 'dead area' for this channel, or it isn't broadcasting - is any one actually receiving it today?

Thanks,
Walt.

Thank you for the responses Anthony and jb38

Hi, Anthony - my location (53.597519,-2.443126) is latitude/longitude - approx. SE of Winter Hill

Hi, jb38 - I am receiving Ch56 (LCN 8 - This is Manchester) with 91% signal strength on my Humax HDR-T2 and similar almost maximum levels on my 3 other Freeview devices.

anthony: you wrote on 1 Jun that the mux on Ch57 was "back to normal"

Has it gone offline again, and that's why I can't get it? No-one has said in reply to my original post that the ch57 mux is actually broadcasting fine.
