I have Sony Bravia with free view hd built in. Since switchover on Wednesday all channels fine and it has found the HD channels. When I go to the HD channels however, they are all blocky and I can't see anything. My signal strength is 100% and quality is 100%. someone said my strength is too strong so bought an attenuators to reduce the strength but this not rectified the problem. I have retuned numerous times and also done a factory reset on my tv to no avail. Help please!!!

Hi Brian

I am on the keighley transmitter that switched last Wednesday. All channels work fine and signal is good and quality is good. The only downside is I can't get any hd channels as I believe the signal is too strong. I don't know why they made the signal too strong if they knew it would cause problems. I bought an attenuators to reduce the signal but still not working. Have you any idea what I can do next? If I buy another attenuators and link them would this work? I am amazed a signal could be too strong!! I have a sony bravia tv with a hd free view already in.
Thanks for any help

Mark: HI Brian
Thanks for the reply. Yes I know it can be confusing thinking that just becuase it says on the TV HD Ready you think it can receive Freeview HD broadcasts. My Tv is the Sony Bravia KDL-40EX503 which has a freeview DVB-T2 tuner built in so it has the ability to receive Freeview HD signals. It has found the HD channels but they are blocky and the sound is awful. it all points to the signal being too strong.

I have now put THREE attenuators on my aerial lead. I have been able to reduce the power to zero so i lose all the signal. I have turned it up notch by notch but the HD channels still blocky and crackling sound. This is no use.I am really disappointed with this free view and I bought my tv because of the advertised free view HD. The disappointing thing is no one can seem to be able to give me a solution.

Mark: When my tv tunes in channels all it shows is a percentage of progress and then tells me how many channels it has found. I took the signal from zero and worked up but still hd channels scrambled.

Jim f: I had three attenuators at one point so I had 52db of attenuation at one point which took the signal down to virtually nothing. I retuned when the signal strength was the lowest it could be but no joy. I think it could be a problem with the was free view have done their digital switchover and they have the power too high.

FIXED IT!!
The problem was I have a cam card in my tv for espn and this was conflicting with hd channels. Took cam card out and hd channels now fine.
Might be worth putting this in the faqs so people can check this first.
