Not quite.Lancaster,Saddleworth and Storeton are not main transmitters but they are major relays all dependent upon its main transmitter Winter Hill.If Winter Hill was totally off the air Lancaster,Saddleworth and Storeton major relays will all be off the air as such and will all be affected as such too !

David Parker,Rotherham. Thanks for responding. There is the Bush DVB680 Freeview HD set top box under £60 at Argos yet if you're quick enough (come this Monday 26th) its currently priced at £33 at this moment in time while im texting in reply.
Actually im not from Barnsley myself but im currently residing (occasionally) with family (brother and my in-laws) who presently live in Barnsley themselves hence the Barnsley locaton (i currently reside in Halifax, close to the Yorkshire/Lancashire border),but as i dont regularly stay in Barnsley very much i do not know of any reputable TV retailers in the Barnsley/South Yorkshire area where HD set top boxes come inexpensively within the £100 range you specified in your reply to my earlier text.
But there is the Bush DVB680 which i mentioned earlier above as a suggestion within the price range you stated apart from that the only other suggestions are above the £100 price range, the likes of Humax,Samsung,Sony,Goodmans, etc.
I do hope you obtain that refund from the Technika box and avoid them in future, and purchase a reputable alternative instead.
I hope this text is of valuable assistance to you,and hopefully when you buy a much better alternative you get much happier viewing than your present one that is giving you so much grief at this moment in time.

Kraig. The answer to your question is if your aerial is tipped black on its ends then it is a group W wideband aerial,if it is tipped brown on its ends then it is a group E semi-wideband aerial optimised for the middle-upper bandwidth between frequencies 35-68/9.

Sally. If you decide to opt for the full package from the main all group A frequencied Rowridge transmitter, then your current group W wideband aerial is useless in a poor/marginal signal area within this mast due to the poor/inferior performance of group W wideband aerials on group A frequencies on all group A masts such as Rowridge as an example.Poor performances such as low signal gain and in some cases pixellations and even failing to pick up the lowest frequencies common with cheap contract aerials are examples as such.
Your best bet is to buy a superior group A Yagi18A or preferably at your location a slightly more stronger group A X-Beam XB16A aerial, buying of course at the same time superior black or brown coloured copper-copper co-ax cable and importantly superior brass co-ax plugs, not alloy or worse plastic plugs they're useless.Look up the ATV (Aerials and Television of Sheffield) website, you will find that in my honest opinion they are the No1 aerial and accessories retailer in the UK today, and i do highly recommend ATV believe me they are the best, forget the rest !

Your text relating to the ITV1 Tyne-Tees analogue signal on frequency 29,and Waltham's digitally switched SDN mux also on frequency 29 interacting does hold some truth.A few hours earlier on my other TV which i still have Bilsdale snowy analogue channels 1-5 stored,i did notice the Tyne-Tees ITV1 picture did have fuzzy diagonal lines running across possibly due to what i mentioned above.Interestingly comes DSO2 on Wednesday 26 September 2012 Bilsdale's D3+4 multiplex will also be broadcasting on frequency 29 albeit on 100kw so possible future interaction with Waltham's 25kw SDN mux on frequency 29 is a small possibly but hopefully once analogue disappears from UK TV screens altogether 4 weeks after DSO2 from Bilsdale any potential interaction may possibly vanish completely after that.Just out of interest there is a likelyhood that the 100kw BBCA,BBCB (HD) and D3+4 multiplexes from Bilsdale could be picked up in my location as such HX2 9JY,the 50kw SDN,ArqA and ArqB multiplexes from Bilsdale on the other hand possibly, yes or no.

Looking thru the BBC2 schedule around the time that BBC2 analogue on the main Crystal Palace mast should be switched off, once the programme "Wikileaks:The secret life of a superpower" ends around 12.20am BST in the early hours of Wednesday 4 April 2012 is most likely when the BBC2 analogue signal disappears for good !

David Parker,Rotherham. It appears that the set-top box concerned that you stated does have some sort of software issue problem. My best advice is to send it back and get a refund. After this buy a new set-top box only next time avoid Technika altogether.
