Ben.First of all you did not leave a full postcode or nearby location as such,this is to ascertain the reception possibilities in your locality.
Try resetting your appliance for a start,then unplug your aerial and perform an automatic scan,it will pick up zero/nothing.
Now after this procedure plug your aerial back in and this time perform a manual scan for the multiplexes at Sudbury transmitter if you imply you receive their programming as such.It should do the trick !

Richard,Bristol.Most minor and major relay masts as well as most main transmitters always tend to halve the power levels of the commercial multiplexes SDN,ArqA and ArqB to that of the public service multiplexes BBCA,D3+4 and if received on suitable equipment BBCB (HD).
Basically it is because the PSB multiplexes carry the core (main) services for the majority populus,while the COM multiplexes more or less are the opposite.

Ruth,Havant.Is your new outside aerial facing Rowridge polarised horizontally or vertically.And if so is it a group A (red tipped),a group K semi-wideband (grey tipped) or a group W wideband (black tipped) aerial.Have a look tomorrow (too dark now) at the colour tips,at your location which is officially a poor signal area (over 30 miles from home to mast) if its coloured black then your group W wideband aerial (if it is ?) is the wrong aerial to use on an all group A transmitter such as Rowridge in a poor/marginal aera itself.And at the same time if the polarity is horizontal it should be vertical polarisation for better results.
If you leave a full postcode,not a partial one,we should be able to give you more assistance as such,this is to ascertain the reception possibilities in your locality.

Rob Alka.I would up both Single Frequency Interference as well as Inversion Effect as possible causes.

Derek,Ruislip.If your Yagi aerial is directed at Crystal Palace main transmitter (an all group A mast) and is coloured red at its tips,then it is a group A aerial and the correct aerial for that mast concerned.There is no need to change to a so-called high gain aerial which most certainly will be a group W wideband type (coloured black at its tips),which have a poor performance generally on group A frequencies,especially more so on an all group A mast in a poor/marginal area as such.

Daniel Badman,Dover.The inversion effect/atmospherics most likely was the culprit.
Or possibly too much signal as you and your neighbours reside very close to the Dover main transmitter itself !

Lucy Harris.If as you state you are fed up of Freeview TV,go for Freesat.
Either that or if you are affluent (wealthy) enough and there is Virgin Media in your area,opt for Cable TV instead.
Cable TV does have its advantanges,less or no interference whatsoever,and its all digital too.
