John Cowell: AFAIK Sky only provide a catch-up/on demand service for their subscribers.

Jill F3nemore: This is an independent technical help website, nobody here has anything to do with any engineering work. Unfortunately Arqiva (the company who operate the transmitter) don't usually give any details of what works they are carrying out or when they are due to be completed.

Jill Fenemore: Chris is another volunteer contributor. The transmitter engineering post you replied to comes from an automated feed provided by BBC Engineering. The Freeview helpline don't have access to any detailed engineering information, they're just a call centre who read from a script.

DAVID LITTLE: What is the reason you're using multiple filters? Each time the signal goes through a filter it will introduce some signal loss. Have you tried it with just the filter before the splitter and removing the other filters?

Paul Maidens: Which stations is your wife struggling to receive? The Cirencester transmitter only broadcasts the Gloucestershire and Swindon local DAB multiplexes and a low power filler for the D1 National mux. It doesn't broadcast either the BBC National or SDL National muxes.

Winter Hill (Bolton, England) transmitter
Tuesday 11 June 2024 10:29AM

Barrie Cliffe : The post above yours warns of engineering work currently affecting the Winter Hill transmitter, which may be operating at reduced power for periods of time whilst the work is taking place. Unfortunately they don't give any details of what the works are or how long they are due to last.

The BBC have implemented LCN switching, which moves the BBC HD channels to the number of the corresponding SD channel on compatible TVs. The idea is that by moving the HD channels to lower numbers more people will find them without having to go to the HD section of the EPG.

Jacky: Unfortunately Arqiva (who operate the transmitter) don't give any details of what the engineering work involves or how long it is expected to last.

Richie Smith: You're predicted to receive a good signal from the Redruth transmitter 21km away (it's predicted to be better than the much closer Gulval relay) however most portable high gain antennas are little more than a piece of wire sticking out of an amplifier and are only any good with a strong signal). It might work but you would probably be better off with a full size rooftop or loft aerial.

Brian Butterworth: Have you updated the GeoIP database since July 2023? I've been unable to post any comments on the site from my home broadband since switching provider nearly 2 months ago. They've informed me that the 149.40.x.x IP range was assigned to them in October 2023 and that all GeoIP databases have been updated with their details, which I have been able to verify.

I am currently having to post this on my tablet using an EE 4G SIM and currently cannot access UKFreeTV from my home broadband at all (sometimes I can view the site but not post comments but get blocked out entirely, seemingly at random, when I get a blank page with TR in the corner, suggesting that the server thinks I'm in Turkey).
