You can check which transmitter you are using by looking at which way your aerial is pointing, if it is pointing roughly north-north west you are using Hemel Hempstead, whereas Crystal Palace is to the south east from Harrow.

Angela Thompson: There is no need to wipe your recordings, it certainly isn't necessary to delete any recordings when retuning.
Freesat is received via satellite dish, with a set top box connected to your TV. There is no need to replace a fully working TV to receive any type of TV service, whether terrestrial, satellite, cable or via internet as all are available with an appropriate set top box. Have you asked your neighbour who has their aerial pointing at Crystal Palace what their Freeview reception is like, as you could potentially get your aerial changed for one pointed at Crystal Palace if that gives better results than Hemel Hempstead.

stella & kerry: We can't put your requests on the channel as this website has nothing to do with Starz TV or any other broadcaster.

john: Please provide a postcode (or one of a nearby shop etc) so we can see which transmitters serve your area and whether there are currently any faults or engineering work that may affect you.

Richard Cooper: I don't think it's a glitch. If you look around the site you'll see it's always done that for all transmitters. There probably isn't anything on the feed from BBC Engineering to differentiate between which page each message should appear on for the transmitter affected.

Angela Thompson: Good to hear you've got it sorted. Cranes wouldn't cause interference but could potentially block the signal if directly in line between your aerial and the transmitter.

Chris: In addition to MikeP's comments, there is no spare capacity for BBC 4 HD to be broadcast from Dover (or any other transmitter which does not already carry it). The capacity used during the Olympics was created by moving CBBC HD to the commercial capacity which BBC 4 HD normally uses and was subsequently reversed after the Olympics ended. CBBC HD broadcasts until 9pm each evening whilst BBC 4 HD starts at 7pm so it is not possible for both channels to share capacity in the way that CBBC HD and BBC 3 HD used to when CBBC HD used to end just before 7pm with BBC 3 HD starting immediately after.

B. Mason: Retuning won't fix interference (nor will it fix most reception problems). Has this started recently? It could be caused by a recently upgraded mobile phone mast nearby which has started operating 4G services on frequencies just above those used by the Winter Hill transmitter. There is an organisation called AT800 which has been setup by the mobile operators to deal with this by sending you a free plug in filter if they believe 4G to be the source of your problem. Tom G: The 10% of homes will be determined by which ones are predicted to loose reception following the frequency changes with their currently fitted aerial type. As far as I'm aware no details have yet been announced about how the funding for this will work and who will take responsibility for delivering it.
Virtually all indoor aerials are wideband so wouldn't need changing on that basis. Although indoor aerials are only really suitable for use in areas with a strong signal, particularly the loop types that used to be commonly attached to the top of small portable CRT TVs as they aren't polarised and aren't really directional either.

Keith: 5 Live Sports Extra is a part time station so might not appear in your station list if you tuned your radio whilst the station was off air. On most radios, tuning to another BBC national station for a few seconds whilst 5 Live Sports Extra is on air should be enough for it to be added to the station list, but otherwise if your reception of other BBC national stations is good, try retuning again when 5 Live Sports Extra is broadcasting.
